Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

#1 Re: Game Discussion » Plans as Moderator » 2017-04-12 21:24:16

Alright, let me weigh in here.

First of all, insofar as EE moderation was what it was once - and notwithstanding tangents besides the essence of action - there are three quadrants of four values at stake. This is not to say that jurisprudence is a discipline requiring a hierarchy of conceptual merit; in fact, most of what the Phinarose debate has brought forth into the front of the background is the forward-backwards relationship between the front-facing moderator action log, and the backtracking discussions of prior forethought.

If Phinarose, for example, set the pin strategically into the quadrant concerning Rigidity (or Actuality), then what would it be to put yourself in the shoes of the player? How exactly do you measure the different distances? Or is it crazy to assume that there WON'T be recourse involving the very things that Jawapa has been talking about?

This is why I wanted to bring up the aftermath of what happened the last time it happened: remember when the chat functions weren't constructed in such a way that moderator interactions occurred irrespective of rules developed after the initial report was put forward BUT without submission? We thought we solved this by lifting the restrictions (technically speaking, we did solve it, but Nou had to set the revert anyway because of the database reformat, so that we could still actually make the changes before Master1's removal), but here we are again.

Fourthly, there's no way to actually do what Atilla's suggesting. Let me explain:

If you're a player, and you're just getting used to interacting on the user interface, what's comes next as the most important aspect of playing? The general action of dealing, firstly, with whatever need they already used. How, at this point, can we close down the domain when the lobby itself already does, as intended, what the restored code was built to do in the first place of having actually written in the exception rule? I'm not the expert on coding here obviously, but based on what we've been talking about all last year, there's no workaround for this. So is Phinarose correct?

These are just my thoughts, take them as you will.

#3 Re: Game Discussion » HookEdge Arrow Jump » 2015-04-07 20:31:40

It's possible, I had a variant of this jump in MFLevels 11 which requires a similar method to complete it.

Bobithan, it's not a rising jump. It's actually a falling jump. If, when jumping immediately after landing the ground, you touch upward or some kind of gravity in the 1-2 frames before that initial landing, your jump will retain some of that gravity propulsion. If you jump up into the crook of the hook, pull back once you hit the wall, graze the up arrow, land and jump off the edge, you will be able to jump over 4 blocks high.

Before we get to the decrying of, the shaming of, the spitting upon, the trampling upon, and the eventual public evisceration of all those responsible for what has happened (as well as all those who are found to be insufficiently indignant to this moral crisis), some prior shames must be revisited. They must be reopened, as if they were wounds that must never be allowed to heal.

Albeit less infuriating, substantially so in fact, the long-standing twin shames of this forum will be soulrending to anyone who remains naive; i.e. generally well-wishing towards all of existence. Such people are common, of course, their conscious awareness itself made a victim by the administration's suppression of speech. Victims no more, today you are christened as blood knights under the crucifix of King W.

The first shame is the unscrupulous and unrelenting deletion and snuffing out of every post I make.

By the sheer speed at which my bi-hourly topics were being muffled, I assume these actions have now been taken out of the hands of the mercenary mod task team you brought in, and are now under the control of a separate and dedicated bot designed to track and nullify my forum actions.

Of course, you did do it smartly. You made it so I could post threads and see them go up, even though they wouldn't show up on the forums for anyone on a different IP than my own.

You even made dummy accounts that made just a few posts between them on each of my threads, and you never followed up when I replied. The low traffic I thought I was receiving on each of my pleas and outcries was devastating. It rotted away my convictions, my spirit, with the slow poison of alienation. You made me think that no one cared about what you were doing to us all.

How dare you. How dare you, you... you miserable scraps of--

which leads me to the second shame. This one is more relevant than the first to the forthcoming whistleblowing, since, as is clear to everyone reading this, I've already circumvented your silencing bot.

The second shame is that this is a forum which is supposed to be child-friendly.

Was this you trying to protect yourselves from the words you deserve thrown at you on this day, as you knew it would come?

If that was the case, then I'm afraid you'll have to navigate your emails, private message boxes, and the floor near your ground level windows with your eyes closed. You'll have to keep them closed while you try to get rid of the last thirty emails, messages, and bricks with notes tied to them that you received. They all contain the original version of this post.

Or is it an excuse to have the 'right' to censor everything that appears next to my name? Should I change my name then? Should I tell them MFL stands for Mindfriendship Levels?

If you wanted to protect the children from abuse, you should have closed down your entire operation the first time the physics were changed after saving had been introduced. Maybe you could have protected the children from what I have learned today. I am a vehicle for the truth that you set in motion. The collateral damage to them all is your guilt to bear - another sin that will surely be punished.

By now, those guilty should already know what this is about, and those who are victims might already have known it all along in their heart of hearts. It's about smileys. Specifically (to me), it is about the female smiley.

In 2010 the female smiley was released. I purchased it immediately for some 80 gems. Of course I didn't spend money on the gems. Do not ask me how I obtained the gems; there are many ways to skin a cat. Do not ask me how to skin a cat; google it.

The female smiley is the smiley I use. It has come to my attention that there have been several other smileys released since 2010, and although I have no interest in any of them, I believe they were also involved in this tragedy.

I don't fully remember the day that the game was updated such that your smiley was saved between logging off and logging on. The memory seems fond, as if maybe that was a day where I experienced satisfaction. I'm sure satisfaction was so unknown to me in my online existence that I probably didn't know what I was experiencing. I suppose it is still unknown to me now. And probably, if an existence outside of an online one were conceivable and I were a participant within it, it would still be unknown to me.

I logged on two days ago for reasons that no longer matter to me. I joined a game and was numbed dumb. I. . . .was just a regular. . . .run of the mill. . . .generic smiley.

I fought to maintain control over the convulsions that immediately started to jolt through my body. Muscles, which I had thought shrunk and atrophied from years of disuse, suddenly shot to life from under a couple hundred kilograms of noble fat mass, mass under which they had been long buried. The rolls of flesh that donuted around my stomach and arms rippled like deep soundwaves, while my eyelids twitched so violently that they could have performed valiantly as wings for a hummingbird. That I was able to move my mouse to the smiley change icon, and even execute a swift left click, without crashing either of my flailing arms through my desk, was a feat immediately recorded as a human triumph in the field of hand dexterity and seismic hazard management - even if an errant elbow did deliver a glass of chocolate milk from my desk out through my window, and down into the billowing folds of the Chinese meat vendor's patchwork canopy across the street.

I had opened the smiley selection window. It had to be done, and I regret none of the pain.

I awoke two days later, shaken as violently back to life as I had shaken when I left it. I was coughing up blood, having almost choked on it in my slumber.

The smiley selection window was still open, and. . . .I saw it. I saw my own identity grayed out and locked away. My fingers moved sluggishly as I clicked on the female smiley, uselessly trying to become whole again. I called my father after not speaking to him for four years, and we spoke for two and a half hours.

Then I began the recovery process. The first part of which was writing this post, righting this wrong. I don't know what comes next. That's my journey, and, my fellow victims in this fallout, you need concern yourselves only with your own. It is enough of a burden to carry.

Children of this happy forum, do your smileys still smile? If they do, it is because your true smileys, your souls, have been taken from you.

EDIT: Of course, as this is a child-friendly board, I should have had the foresight to include a TL;DR.

~

TL;DR: I paid for the female smiley as soon as it came out. Then you immoral gnats took it away from me, you locked up my soul and left me to die in a coma. You took everything from me, and it was devastating, and I'll never let it go. And so, I, and everyone else here who have had their identities taken by you, will be coming, and it's too late to protect yourselves.

If not, I have trouble seeing any way EX Crew First Place does not take First Place.

Also sense this is going to be part of the contest, don't you think you should post the results as 4 of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place also?

Despite popular opinion to the contrary, only one map can be the best, and second best, and so forth.

But that's just truth and reality; we must not let such arbitrary things get in the way of more smiley prizes.

To MegaLamb,

When the spam filter had finally put a stop to my cries for help in Stupid Minis to Code, who was it that came and completed the challenge effortlessly, yet still waited for me to finish?

The God of Lambs is skilled and patient.

And when I begged and begged for code so I could fly around and not delete anything I promise I swear I am not a troll please give code please please are you there please code code? code? please..., who was it that, in his infinite grace, replied "1234"?

The God of Lambs, the speaker of the real code.

And when I had trolled all the worlds of E.E., tricking the owners of maps as small as 25 pixels square, and teleporting to the codes in maps as long as 400 pixels wide, who was it that, with a "Lol" and a "Nice", relieved me of the guilt that was eating me away?

The God of Lambs is limitless in good cheer.

You hit the key that opened the keydoors to my heart, and due to an overlooked, game-breaking bug, those keydoors will never close again.

As the first pro, I can attest to this being true. I did not have help. Anyone who ever sat alone in an empty map, with no company, and tried to make something new, can understand how it is possible to become a pro from nothingness.

But creating mustang and MIHB from two of my ribs was definitely a good idea. I became a handsomer pro by working with them.

#20 Re: Game Discussion » EX Crew Room/Challenge Design Advice » 2015-02-13 21:15:29

MFL

After making ten maps of my **** Levels (MF Levels) series, a slurry of rooms all over the EX projects, and a lot of unreleased, ridiculously cruel rooms with my EX cohorts, I can vouch for mustang's evaluation of room creation and add a few summary points of my own conclusions.

"Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed"

A room maker is an inventor. He must understand, to a rigorous precision, the nature of both his landscape and his tools. A deep understanding of game physics is critical to innovation, for example:

-He must know that "blanks" are, in essence, "down arrows", and abandon all conception of top-down construction in favour of using all four directions when necessitated.
-He must know that the block in which the "center" of the smiley is located, is the block which will determine the smiley's gravitational affectation.
-He must know how much run up space is necessary in order to break through an opposing arrow or arrows, and to account for lag (desync discrepancy) which would make certain arrows impossible to break, or easily broken where unintended.

These are just some of the most basic intricacies of which the room maker should be aware.

A good room is an invention. An invention is the culminating application of a man's ability to imagine the conclusions that can be drawn from the premises given, his tools and the laws of nature: that a tree does make a sound if it falls, that a smiley can move smoothly along a diagonal chain of dots.

Has this conclusion been drawn before? Has someone else applied this concept? The inventor continues to experiment.

You have a smiley with X acceleration, X top speed, a 5 block jumping height and a ~0.95 block diameter. You have 198x198 blocks with which to design a level. You have gravity blocks in all four directions and a nullgrav block.

The rooms you make, the inventions, will be themselves conclusions drawn from these core premises integrated by a thinking mind.

I present this small assorted pack of room JPGs, some rooms used, some unused, all interesting:

Enjoy!

(DISCLAIMER: Half of these rooms are pre-physics updates, so they may be malfunctioning. If that is the case, take them for the concepts they are expressing.)
