Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

EEU will be written on html5 and the newest javascript libraries, isn't that a non-laggy system?

No, communications between an external server will always have latency, It doesn't matter what type of technology is used.

On 16×16 it looks a bit ****, but on 24×24 it's more readable and you can see the actual graphic behind the numbers
but about the switches, that just won't fit

None of those are readable...

There are invisible dots above that you can use to jump over the first timed doors if you aren't on a good cycle.

This isn't an EE term, this is used in every forum-esque website where something has a "first post".

I kind of wanted to wait to see What would happen with EEU before writing this, but I haven't seen this addressed really at all and I think it's important to mention it now rather than when the game is out.

I know people are complaining about the campaigns for another reason but I have a bit of a different gripe about them.  The whole system was going to fail both in the long term and in its infancy.

It doesn't seem so bad in EE now because we had a massive backlog of worlds the staff had to choose from, along with some new levels being made, but it won't work in a new game for numerous reasons:

1: The backlog won't exist, which causes a very long wait time for good levels to be added, which causes campaigns to take a lot longer to be made.

2: assuming more people join and more levels are being created, a lot of good levels that would have already fit into a category won't have a good chance of being in a campaign depending on when they are created, this is still a bit of a problem now, but not many new levels are being made. If EEU gets any traction, it could be a massive problem in the future.

3: The system offers very little room for flexibility. I find this something that isn't great when dealing with UGC, and this might be an explanation why people believe the campaigns only cater to the best. The system is so set in stone, there are multiple levels that could fit but just don't because of either space or other limitations.

There are more but overall this system was somewhat fine for EE since it never really had an infancy stage with campaigns, as there were a ton of levels already created, a new game however won't, I don't see any way a campaign system like this will work in something that doesn't have a few years of levels to work off of. So that's the main reason why I posted this. Seeing as the campaign system have never been addressed in terms of EEU (at least I couldn't find it). I wanted to see what others thought in terms of the campaigns as a system, and less complaining of the minor things that have happened.

My idea of a different campaign system

TL;DR I believe the current campaign system won't work in a new game at all due to lack of levels and format of system, I'm curious if others think the same.

energy is something that has been debated and has caused issues for a long time, so I'm kinda sad that you haven't talked about how you would solve any of the issues. A while ago, I proposed a levelling system which would allow players to learn the game at an easy pace and earn their action blocks by levelling up. There would be a max level at which players would have earned all action blocks. Cosmetic blocks can be bought with a currency, which could be energy. Players at max level get new action blocks for free. I still think this is a better system than energy. You didn't actually specify what items need to be bought with energy, so I don't know what your intentions are but I'm hoping at least action blocks won't need to be bought with energy. Perhaps it's actually just better for all action blocks to be free from the beginning.

I think this this topic needs to be mentioned a bit more. I remember the topics about making the game new player friendly and they just kind of died down without any real solution, maybe it was around the time they made more cosmetics available, don't remember.  But This is the best time to actually think about it without being conflicted with a player base that already has everything.

when I see HTML, it's mostly just a website with some fonts, <h1>s, borders and some css stuff.
The question is: how do you make a game on this text editor? are there more commands then just text?

Most likely the canvas tool, using javascript to manipulate the graphics on it. There's a lot more flexibility to HTML5 than just text and css styling.

You can set Patreon tiers to limit the number of people that can sign up for that specific tier. So only 12 people could sign up for it, but only 1 has.

why would you limit it in first place? and there are more then 1 wiht name color

I can't explain the name color for obvious reasons, but they probably limit it because it involves travel, and the off chance that many people would subscribe to it would prove to be pretty difficult logistics wise.

#15 Re: Bots and Programming » cant start? » 2018-09-11 11:38:37

I probably should tell you to look it up yourself, but here's how you'd find a solution.

If you were curious if you type in google "debug target is missing c#" because that is what your error message is telling you what went wrong.

that search will bring up a stackoverflow link that should help you.

Being able to lookup information is extremely important and something that will be very useful if you are trying to learn programming. not saying others can't help, but there are a lot of resources already out there that will help just as much.

#16 Re: Bots and Programming » cant start? » 2018-09-11 10:24:00

It tells you two things you can do to try and fix it, and it gives you a path to verify or check if the "SoloLearn.exe" file is there. There isn't much anyone can do to help you that the error message doesn't already do.

Disappointment with this contest is the only thing that I can feel in my heart right now. This is just insulting. I despise you, Kirby, for not voting for my level. After all I have done for you. How dare you? Not cool. I think I should quit this game, I can't stay within the same community with people that just can't think objectively and pick good levels. I'm done.

#18 Re: Forum Discussion » give the suggestion subfroums a i dont liek this button » 2018-09-03 16:38:35

It's been mentioned a lot before, and basically it boils down to if you don't like something you should have a reason for not liking it, so you should give a reason.

Having both buttons (woot/diswoot(?)) would make topics die a lot faster and add confusion on why people don't like the idea, rather than giving a reason or constructive criticism to make the suggestion better.

You are trying to make a statement that doesn't hold any ground, the hits you are getting with EEU are pretty small relative to what EE pops up,which is a popular mobile network and a popular twitter account (both the same people), iincluding other pretty popularly searched names.
You will not find a search result that will lead to nothing unless you type in pure gibberish. So saying that because Google shows something the name won't work doesn't make any sense.

#22 Re: Game Suggestions » Get stuck in crown doors after crown touch like in timed gates. » 2018-08-21 10:02:28

Not always, it's reliant on having 2 people and a crown almost always available, which isn't something that a lot of people have in levels.

the timed doors work like that because it is guaranteed you won't get stuck no matter what.

Wouldn't you be able to load a save whenever you miss a jump anyway?

Xenonetix mentioned two kinds of saves: An autosave and save slots which only save at save points (and/or checkpoints depending). The autosave would be as they outlined (campaign saving), but the save slots would be loadable at any time ingame.

Not really sure what the plan would be, but I was thinking more of something where you pick a save slot when you join the world, then it autosaves to that slot as you play / when you leave, which would avoid these possible problems as it would be automatically overwritten if you failed a jump or something.

I'm not sure if I like that.

The point of multiple saves is returning to parts of a game you want to replay/start off from. Making it autosave the file ruins the point of multiple save files in my opinion.

That system you suggested sounds much better with a single save system where you don't have to worry about replaying a level, while good for one save, makes every other save practically useless.

Hmm... This is quite a good idea, but I'm not sure how safe storing files locally would be... I often have a problem where all the local data is wiped (probably due to having multiple instances open at the same time), in which case all of my saves would be lost. Sometimes people also have some sort of incognito mode enabled, or occasionally wipe their cookies so this might also cause annoyance when they don't realise this will delete their saved.

I guess the other problem is that the rEEboot could have better anti cheat, in which case save file manipulation would become a big problem, but not sure about this so I guess its too soon to tell whether this will be a problem.

I think he's talking more about a file on your computer, not on the browser, so it wouldn't rely on cookies.
