Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Its a bit disingenuous to show this while using a bunch of 2-high segments for the sides of the 7-segment display.  The larger the display is, the less the corners matter.

Nevertheless, as tamashiimizu says, this is very useful if you have the ids to spare.

The point of this thread is to use in-game blocks to make a calculator

That would require a lot of space for switches requiring extremely big worlds. As i said, you will need bots for switches

I'm quite certain it is possible to make 4-function calculators that handle large numbers without using a bot.

On top of that, making a calculator with a bot would miss the point entirely.

#5 Re: Worlds » Random machine - V 1.3 » 2015-11-13 21:48:55

Still really hard to see the numbers, IMO.  Maybe something like what I do here would work.

I hope you aren't actually pointing out the similarity in the table/chairs design?  Because thats been the simplest and most basic design since 2010.

Not possible using 7-segment displays and only 100 switch IDs, I'm afraid.

An 8 puzzle ( I made with help from members of Systems and Devices.  The object is to get all the numbers in order from 1-8, with the blank in the bottom right space.

Have fun!

The level also has a few basic descriptions of how the machines work, and at some point I will make a separate small level showing exactly how to build the sliding components.

^^ I was wondering about this as well, since he is the original creator of EX Crew Shift (at least I believe he is, correct me if I'm wrong Nou or anyone).

He made the bot; the minis were made by like 131234897 different people.  As far as I know the bot is still updated from his original version.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Itsmeandersonlol, which parts looked too messy to you?  A lot of this stuff was made up on the fly, so its hard for me to tell what things are easy to visually understand and what things are not.  I'd like to fix some of those visual issues (if they're fixable).

Null, I'm glad you enjoyed the rooftop views!  I wish I could have added more content along those lines, but it turns out even 300x300 isn't a lot of space when everything has to be far away from everything else. :/

Pyro: you don't remember going off on EX Crew?  One of your posts before I even entered the discussion was "The one about EX Crew?  Preach!".  Even if you weren't directly attacking the group, you made your feelings clear.

As for the rest, fair enough.

I felt bad about kicking you.  You got kicked because of your association with Thwinkt, and I wouldn't have kicked you normally if I hadn't been **** at Thwinkt.

Thwinkt, on the other hand, was being a jackwagon, and I kicked him because he was constantly complaining about the level in a non-constructive manner.

edit: jackwagon?

I don't think that being good at something (ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS AS DUMB AS EE) gives someone the right to be a douche.

Its not like I'm rude and mean to everybody.  Yes, I'm arrogant in that I have a high opinion about my knowledge in certain areas, but I am also generally nice to people.  I thank people for playing my levels, I compliment them on theirs, I help people when asked for advice, no matter how "noob" they may be.  I don't diss levels or builders just because I don't 'like' what they make; there are quite a few levels out there that I don't like because they aren't my thing, but I like that they exist and respect the people who made them.  That also applies to people I actively dislike, and there are a couple who have levels I would readily support as being part of a campaign.

The confession I quoted, the reason I pointed out that I was arrogant was not to take joy in it, it was to acknowledge something, so that when I disagreed with something else it would carry more weight.  The confession claimed that:

He even made a special account to confront whoever dares to open doors to new ideas that are against their fanatical edeology or dares to argue with them

This is objectively untrue, as I have never done such a thing.  What does it say about certain people who don't like me that they think its ok to make up falsehoods about me?  If I'm so awful, why don't they say how awful I am by mentioning things I actually do?

A lot of the hatred we get is not because of anything we do.  How fair is it to hate us because there are people who love our levels and will strongly defend them?  We didn't recruit a bunch of people to attack anybody who doesn't like our work.  We made levels because we liked making levels, and like everybody else in the game who actively makes stuff, we think the stuff we make is usually pretty good.  Why is that so awful?

As a result, we get a lot of unjustified hate.  Search around a bit, see how many people take unprovoked shots at EX Crew.  In the only recent thread where I got in an argument with somebody, I only spoke up because somebody took what looked like a shot at us.  Even if it wasn't meant to be a shot at us, how fair is it that we are meant to be representative of something that people don't like, when that isn't all we do?

My posting history is visible.  Count how often I actually take a shot at somebody on a personal level.  It almost never happens.  On the other hand, in this thread alone you've called me old, irrelevant, and a douche.  You've spoken rudely and dismissively about my 'lil ex crew buddies' and mocked how we write.  Although I don't have the best memory, I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time you've taken a shot at EX Crew, and maybe not even the first time you've taken a personal shot at me.

What did I do to justify this level of hatred?  If I insulted you in the past, I am sorry.  If I came off as standoffish, I did not mean offense.  I would like to understand why you continue to attack us, when, as far as I know, none of us has had much if any interaction with you for a long time.

with Mihb on top of the list. He even made a special account to confront whoever dares to open doors to new ideas that are against their fanatical edeology or dares to argue with them. No matter what, he always MUST have the last word, while he is always backed up blindly by their equally ignorant kiss **** fans.

Eh?  I openly admit I'm arrogant and I believe I'm right about everything, why would I need to make another account?  I'd insult the user to their face, but they are, you know, hiding.  ****.

They've been creative and innovative. They have created unique and clever levels that are not just a collection of 10-15 arrow paths.

Which would have been fine if they didn't take potshots at other level creators.

This isn't a subject that should be provoking controversy.   The only reason this is controversial is because its being posed as an issue of 'us vs them'.

'Stop' isn't quite accurate.  What you need to be able to do is slow down and then speed up.  The way to do this is usually to take your finger off the arrow key in midair for a split second.

Between that eedictionary of yours, and your general attitude this entire conversation, its very easy to get the idea that your interest in alternate campaigns is less about getting variety into the campaigns and more about railing against some perceived orthodoxy to which you take personal offense.  This conversation, in general, hasn't been about acknowledging reality than about trying to encourage some preferred opinion.  As an example,

Just because 90 percent of levels are arrow paths does NOT mean that 100 percent of the campaign should be arrow paths. Leave a ten percent for the non-arrow path levels, yeah?

Spoken by minimania and wooted by nlmdejonge.  However, as of right now, if you ignore the tutorial campaign, and consider "water levels" to be an arrow path level, the current percentage of non-arrow path levels in the campaigns is a little over 10% due to the puzzle pack.  Things are gradually changing, but for a long period of time, arrow path levels made up about 90% or even 95% of all levels that were made (excluding bosses, stairs, and run-from-god type levels).

The bigger issue with the campaigns has been the overall difficulty level (way too high), not the lack of 'unique' levels.  If you think that having more unique levels would solve that problem, thats one thing (and I might agree with that), but thats different from being irritated about the lack of unique levels for their own sake.

Wait a second.  They were irritated at me because I was fooled by a minigame that was designed to look awful and was actually meant to fool people?

Those are generally called illusions.  They're called illusions because we first made that kind of nonsense with a level called "Illusion".  Fooling people is a *good* thing.  You should feel good about it.

NorwegianBoyEE, I have to ask, how many levels have you actually played by other builders?  A LOT of unique levels were made by people who also made the type of levels you appear to hold in contempt.  My profile has more maps that would be characterized as "weird ****" rather than "arrow path minigames".  Same for some of the other EX Crew members.
