Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Again, other person who considers that using Nintendo´s graphics isn´t a big deal.
If it won´t be debated in a lawsuit (Or get proper law advice), then the EE staff should back off of using Nintendo graphics for EEO. (And EEU).
EE staff must respect the intellectual property of other companies. Making EEO to keep those "stolen" assets only shows otherwise.
Here's yet another post I'm sure you'll ignore; I don't like that EE uses stolen graphics either. I've been working on a project for a long time now to replace what was stolen, and it's coming to fruition very soon. Not that I think you care, though. I mean, I said this like 3 times already and instead of replying you went and messaged Facebook and Nintendo.

Haven´t you consider that perhaps the rest of the staff might not like the idea to replace the graphics unless they get a warning from Nintendo?
As far as this topic has go, the only thing that the staff shows is that they won´t change anything unless Nintendo gives it´s first smash.
Knowing what graphics are really compromised is important too, changing graphics that are not compromised is unnecessary.
Doing little changes to graphics might be considered a violation of intellectual property as well. (Removing the little dots perhaps is a big change enough for the basic pack?)
It is good to know that at least a single staff member sees the potential danger and is ready to do something and replace the copied graphic, that is perhaps the best option there.
We don't get to decide that. If Nintendo decides they want the games to shut down, we don't have the power to negotiate. We can't just say "oh actually we can just change the graphics". The only thing we could do is preemptively change the graphics out of fear of an incoming lawsuit, but we don't really want to have other graphics in EEO if we can avoid it.
I meant that EE shouldn't taken down just for the possibility of Nintendo lawyers swarm us, as a response to Minisaurus. I think we're in agreement there.
That said if Nintendo asks the game to be shut down because of the graphics even after we've changed the graphics, then, again, they're overstepping their boundaries and definitely in the wrong. It would be an injustice not to call their bluff. If they take it to court just throw swagmoneys at it and spawn more lawyers. Get the attention of others tired of legal nonsense, spread the news on places like reddit, and fund a lawsuit. Easy. Okay it's not easy but it's way better than cowardly backing down and letting our beloved jumping smiley face game rot.

If you wanted to start a discussion over whether or not EEO should use the stolen graphics then I think that would have been a worthful and productive discussion to have. However, considering you adamantly denied that any of the graphics were even stolen, that clearly was not your original intention. This is something you've only thought of as an effort to justify why you did not listen to either the staff or the community as well as your potentially destructive behaviour.
You keep saying them finding out was going to happen anyway but that is not the case at all. EEU is not a guaranteed success. There is no guarantees it will grow. And if it doesn't grow, Nintendo would never know. In fact, the amount of growth it would need for Nintendo to notice would have to be far greater than EE ever achieved. And, even if it was inevitable, that does not mean you should accelerate the process. The time between now and then matters greatly as I have already explained. I think it's inevitable that one day I am going to replace the laptop that I'm using to type this message - that doesn't mean I should just replace it now.

Do you really want to start the same discussion we had in the past 7 pages?
Not this time.

I did not start that project because of you, but now hecause of this whole thread, I'm being forced to accelerate that project. I did extensive research in the past 48 hours into where certain assets were from. The basic blocks and brick blocks were taken from New Super Mario Bros DS, along with the face block and caution blocks of the generic pack, while the metal blocks were taken from Super Mario World. I don't remember where the grass overlay is from but I think it's Super Mario All-Stars. Despite many claims, the Beta package doesn't actually appear to be stolen from any source. Many claim that Super Mario 3D land is where you can find similar looking beveled blocks. However, though it might be said that the EE beta blocks are influenced by them, they are in no way a direct copy. Additionally, the orange pipe set isn't copied from anything; it's completely original.
I'm actually almost done with all of the graphics. I have replacements set for everything but I need to redo the Generic package. May I use your blood graphic overlay for the Halloween blood block? If not, I'll have to remake it myself.
Also, I already said this, but I need to reiterate; I started this project way before any of this happened

I wonder what the staff thinks about it, for now the only staff member that has been shown positively to replace/remove the stolen assets is you.
You can contact me for any graphic-related thing you need/want. (Discord or PM).

No clue why you'd think the staff would want to do any sort of business with you after this stunt lol. Minimania asking to use the blood overlay is more magnanimous than I'd ever reasonably expect honestly

Minisaurus's stunt has increased community brainstorming and activity more than staff have on these forums. Unless we get a cease & desist letter then Minisaurus did no harm. His unpopular opinions and ideas about EE are overall more interesting than many others out there. We need more thinkers like him around these parts.

Ok I'm confused.
Minisaurus believes that EE/EEU/EEO could face legal consequences if Nintendo discovers that they contain graphics originally from Mario.
Minisaurus created this thread to encourage staff to seek legal advice instead of ignoring the problem.
Minisaurus sent emails to Nintendo and Facebook reporting the potential problems and asking if EEU was safe from legal challenges from these companies.
Isn't there a risk that instead of Nintendo saying it's fine or telling staff to remove the graphics, Nintendo will instead want EE/EEO/EEU (EEE) to shut down?
Why did you contact Nintendo instead of a free, independent legal advisor like you mentioned? Haven't you just put EEE in much more immediate danger?
I'm not sure you considered this properly. I think your decision to contact Nintendo was flawed, since it relied on the following assumptions:
Nintendo will find out eventually.
By contacting them now for advice, Nintendo will not shut down EEE or seek damages for the "stolen" graphics.
The consequences will be significantly worse if Nintendo finds out later, despite the fact that EE has existed for years and has already made a lot of profit.
Staff would not have removed the "stolen" graphics from EEE without legal advice from Nintendo in particular.
And finally, you've ignored the possibility that:
Removing the "stolen" graphics in advance might have significantly reduced the chances of Nintendo finding out, OR:
Removing the "stolen" graphics in advance might have reduced the chances of Nintendo seeking damages or shutting down EEE if Nintendo did find out.
Well, what's done is done. We'll have to wait and see what happens. Since EEE currently contains those graphics, the least risky outcome is that Nintendo ignores your email - fingers crossed.

Actually I have tons of graphic business going on with the staff, I don´t know what makes you think otherwise.
I won´t speak of it, I don´t think it is correct to spoiler anything to the community about graphic plans.

Even if I wanted the staff to do so, they would ignore that request, even now there is a bunch of staff members who still don´t think convenient to replace or remove the compromised graphics.
I can´t say that I am sorry for the message I sent, because I am not, (I am only in apology for what was excessive in the request of re-using graphics)
I did sent that message because I fully believe the staff need to fix this before EEO is released, and they would not move a single finger if wasn´t because someone give such a hard warning.
If the EE staff still won´t do anything after all of this, then I can´t do more than be an expectator of the demolition of EE (Or nothing in case Nintendo will just wait until EEU gets more popularity to then strike in case the stolen graphics are still there for EEO).

The finger was moving long before you arrived. You were told that, and you did it anyway. Don't try to claim that you contributed. Don't try to claim it was a good idea, because even without the graphics if Nintendo says they should pull the entire game down, EE will have to. No questions asked. They won't, the bear will remain asleep. You still went and poked it though, and for no good reason.

There is no bear, neither a finger that were moved.
There is just stolen graphics and a staff that wasn´t going to do anything about it.
I didn´t poke to Nintendo, I poke to EE staff.
How many pages do you think this'll hit, 10 maybe 15
i think it has already hit the climax, and we're in the falling action now. i say like 10 or 11 pages .

What a coincidence, I ask myself the same about you, how the staff allow that kind of behaviour.
While on the staff I treated everyone with respect.
Idk how Xenonetix allow people like you to be in the staff when you threat the community with such disrespect.
And not just you, I have noticed many staff members that has a too immature behaviour to be a staff memeber.
You suppose to treat the community whenever you like or not with respect, you fail everytime.
This new staff team is so far the staff team with the worst behaviour EE has got ever. (There is exceptions, but very few, you are not one of those, you are currently the staff member with the worst behaviour).

Lol I’ll ask again since you ignored it.
Why did you contact Nintendo instead of a free, independent legal advisor like you mentioned? Haven't you just put EEE in much more immediate danger?
Either you don’t properly understand the dangers of reporting this to Nintendo now, or you don’t care about the risks and would rather see EEE shut down or worse, than for the “stolen” graphics to exist any longer.

I'd say the same thing about you. For reasons unknown you've been extremely toxic ever since you weren't a staff member. You're rude - you constantly insult the staff team as a whole. You act impulsively and can't even properly defend your poor choices. If the game dies because of you I'm going to be **** off (and rightly so) and it's going to be the result of your actions. I suggest you offer constructive criticism going forward.
While on the staff I treated everyone with respect.
Okay... What about now?
when you threat the community
The only one threatening this community was you when you reached out to Facebook / Nintendo.
You suppose to treat the community whenever you like or not with respect, you fail everytime.
It's also strange that when you refer to "the community" your talking about yourself. You (obviously) don't represent the entire community especially because they all disagree with you. You're not helping.
My only problems are with you, nobody else has threatened the game to where it could die, so stop pretending that I'm mean to everyone. I'm just mean to people who make poor decisions without thinking. (And atilla when he made me miss that boat ride )

All of us? Have you checked the cabinets?
Yes, Minisaurus did a reckless move but this is the kind of wake-up call we need. The EE Staff still haven't fixed the problem, as the graphics are still there. For days several staff members have seen this and acted as victims, but they haven't actually undone the situation they're in. We're watching an unstoppable force (Minisaurus) go up against an unmovable object (the Everybody Edits status quo).
I don't know how long it takes to update the Everybody Edits client, but I imagine changing the graphics to decent placeholder graphics, such as downsized EEU blocks wouldn't take more than an hour. Or maybe you get explicit permission from Minimania to use those graphics if you haven't already. After the work is done, you can then ask the community for feedback and figure out how to change or improve it.
This is a systemic problem. You can't put the blame on a single thing. If EE got sued, Minisaurus would only be a small part of it. It would be the fault of Minisaurus for poking the bear, the original EE staff for copying those graphics, the current staff for knowingly keeping those graphics, the lawyer who sued us, the companies who manipulated governments to make copyright so strict, the governments across the world who accept the broken copyright system, and everybody who hasn't tried their hardest to fix copyright (including me).
I have more things to say about your opinion on Minisaurus but I don't want to fuel the blame game. Now get back to work, apologize to Minisaurus, and get me a comfier soapbox to stand on.
