Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Personally, I think a great way to increase productivity is to simply get more people working on the game. Of course, that's easier said than done as what motivation is there for people to work on the game besides a pitiful "you might get some money out of it eventually!"?

Makes me wonder what was the motivation that produced numerous EE clones

Fun, I assume. Making things is a whole lot easier when it's a personal project. When it effectively becomes 'work' procrastination is more likely.

Differs from person to person. Never managed to finish a personal project, but having it be work (either paid work or a group project) provided a certain urge to meet demands, aka milestones.

that's one way to say it, but it's also because the staff is at this point known for cockblocking people from even helping out with the game like it's some secret club. meanwhile, there's games like worms armageddon and team fortress 2 that are still successful to this day while being essentially entirely ran by people who make submissions and suggestions.

the whole cockblocking thing has only gotten worse over the years with it now being restricted by an NDA, and by extension, an age barrier. i could understand it.. yknow... ten years ago, when benjaminsen was running it, but it's way outta line now imo.

it's essentially their only choice to make clones if they can't help out with the base game. this is why stuff like EBE and Ice and all the other remakes skyrocketed in popularity

Re: ByteArray's weekly development vlogs!

EE clones was mixed ages, some was creating graphics some coded in the client. And there was community based. EE2 made NVD to own EE.
I know very talented people that could help with the coding of EEU. BUT underaged.

Re: ByteArray's weekly development vlogs!

I think the glass blocks are a great idea! I'd use them as "custom color blocks", since you can put any bg behind them.
I'd maybe like them more if they looked a bit smoother together. Right now the 'shine' and the edges of the glass are really clear compared to the basic blocks, though that's probably to make it look more glassy.

The effects and secret blocks also look awesome!
