Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

How will you fit all colors in a tool plate?

look at intersection of brown brick with green one. They are different colors so it seems ok. But when you combine brown brick with brown brick you get nasty looking thick border.
Thick border is bad on it's own, but it's even worse compared to brown-green intersection.
https://gosha.eejesse.net/files/63102994.png
maybe the solution is to remove border on the right and bottom sides?

I was thinking that too, but I think the top and left sides could use some sel-out.  A lighter outline, so that it retains a border, but when tiled, doesn't give the appearance of a doubled up outline, or in the case of the shaded side, an almost tripled up outline.

Re: [EEU] Bricks

Further experimenting, adding shading to the block. All components are given so that people can modify the components as desired and construct the final image.

texture layer 1 (it's the same as the previous texture but twice as bright): QvwXFkA.png

texture layer 2 (the shading, which is scalable): QFHqKNL.png

multiplying the two layers gives the final texture (brightness 51; usage: multiply with the desired color then multiply by 5): 1zXywIl.png

I also made a version with brightness 85 (usage: multiply with the desired color then multiply by 3): UZnN6u3.png

256 color palette: xZtBOhD.png

4096 color palette: yEtPTFX.png

256 color output: c6xgZbn.png

4096 color output: PZRn1W0.png

Re: [EEU] Bricks

I think a flat kind of brick has its use, like the temple/sparta bricks in ee, but i sorta went a little shinier like ee's standard bricks here:

kqb0GuC.png

made extra versions with a bigger center brick, then one with just two rows of bricks, and the last being a tiled version of the one before, if EEU could allow tiling.  tho the vertical tiling could use some work.

Please be aware that the following graphics are conceptual, and may not reflect the final graphics in EE Universe:

those were just up-scaled versions of ee blocks for demonstration purposes

Oh right. Thanks. Already was wondering why its' 32 pixels, not 24. But still, I strongly believe, that the graphics designer already made basic stuff like blocks and bricks (will EEU have complicated terminology)?

But still, good graphics!

Re: [EEU] Bricks

TrueType version of the EEU brick

http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi … 2893068060

The advantage of using TrueType as opposed to bmp or svg is that it's truly scalable.

The brick in this font is made by stacking the characters a, b, c and d on top of each other.

Here are the textures I used for each of the 4 characters:

a — solid color #222222
b — solid color #666666
c — solid color #8E8E8E
d — solid color #4A4A4A

The actual textures used in EEU might be different. In fact, the textures obviously can't be those colors for a brick that isn't gray.

Here is the result:

DUyLnGE.png

It actually renders the same in standard non-anti-aliased rendering and standard anti-aliased rendering, because the hinting snaps horizontal and vertical lines to full pixels, and there isn't anything else than horizontal and vertical lines.

Scalable graphics are amazing; hopefully this technology will make its way to EEU.

Nope you didn't, the brick/clay blocks that got added into the game were designed by Kentiya.

Not a fan, EEU should step away from anything which resembles mario hence removing the dots on the basic blocks.
