Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

the title of this page is "official ee forums", these forums are a subdomain of ee, "forums.everybodyedits.com", so if this is just the fan forum, what is the official forum?
Offline
it's still the official one
We don't have an official forum, this is a fan made forum hosted on the same domain as ee
EE Admins don't have any powers here, thus this can't be official
If diff decides to cover all forums with illegal content you can't blame us for this
Same goes to fan discord channels

Well Xeno has a little bit of power but yeah if I for some reason decide to go postal nobody can really stop me.

tbh i think ee owner should get same power as forum admins sinc eforums are all about ee
thanks hg for making this much better and ty for my avatar aswell

What does it matter whether something has an [Official] label on it or not?
The fact that the devs post game news here, in their own restricted subforum, makes it official.
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

I'd really like that but still feeling a little burned from last time. Idk I might try it again, I think I trust Xeno to take it seriously.

Depends what you mean by "owning." I've always had sole access to the server. Processor was an admin for a good long while from the beginning though, was the only admin besides me.

feels like a bad idea to me
ee forums ownership and staff has been much more stable for the last almost 4 years, unlike EE ownership/staff and id like it to stay that way
whats the point of anyone on the staff team having owner powers if its essentially just server management and moderation? the former is done by diff and nobody on EE staff is gonna do it anyway, the latter is done by diff and mods and barely anyone on the EE staff has the experience or qualities to do it

The idea when this forum was started, was to keep game staff and forum staff separate. This keeps punishments from carrying over from one platform to the other. That has gone well so far.

I like to think of it in the same way of having freedom of the press.
I don't think one single group of people who are currently in control of the game, and who were chosen by their friends and colleagues, not by you, might I add, should, by definition have control over every facet of the community of which they simply share, not own.
It's good having a platform where people can voice their opinions that staff may not like, and on top of that, not face penalties in-game for the things they say which may violate the terms of service, which are currently strict and vague, pandering to an audience of young children, of which this forum doesn't really consist, or at least not to the same extent.
I haven't seen any argument against having them distinct entities beyond simply repudiating the potential cons and with no evidence to support it, only a warm fuzzy feeling that the nice people in charge will always do the right thing. Give me a good reason why they should be glued together in the first place.

You're not wrong but the current setup in no way prevents this from happening. Even totally banning the staff from the forums couldn't stop them from taking out their rage in-game for things said on the forums. There's value in having a different set of staff, I agree with you wholly there.
But as far as this particular doomsday scenario I don't think the current game staff is silly enough to burn that bridge, and if they ever decided they wanted to for some reason there's nothing that can be done to stop them.

not the original forums, not the old ee staff.
I vaguely remember a certain admin deleting topics that called them out for some wrongdoing.

The original forums made by Cyclone? That was staffed wholly by in-game staff until they started dragging mods like me out of the normal users if I'm remembering right. The idea behind this particular incarnation of the forums was pretty much just to get away from Meredith and Atilla.
The original forums were run by gamestaff originally, the Meredith forums completely banned all gamestaff from them, these forums are somewhere in between. And in this incarnation we did have an in-game admin turned forum admin who decided it would be a good idea to practice some censorship, after which we haven't had any more in-game staff acting as forum staff.

EE Admins don't have any powers here, thus this can't be official
Considering the amount of staff changes this forum had compared to EE, I'd say the forum is more official than the game staff itself.
Perhaps the EE administration is considering to give the "official" label to a forum which only the patrons have access?
