i was waiting
waiting for the thought to arise in yer brain
the smoke the clouds the gauzy shift in temp.,
and unkempt scourge drifting
across word salad heads fueling jumper cable passion projects,
ignite ignite and igniting again

i'm waiting for the day i can tell you
that it's been quite a while since i said that one thing you liked
about open car windows and messy hair
that looks good the more razzed you are
and i'm waiting still, you know, for the time when i can see it,
to smear your map with golden coins or some ****,
to feel that way about some things,
even the worst parts of it that seem to read better in my mind
the longer the wait stretches on
