Anyone ever think about the widespread usage of the term: "reported" in EE’s midlate years?
Maybe you didn’t pay it much mind, or think about it. But i’d argue that the word was ubiqutous of EE’s rich and sprawling culture at the time.
Think about it, in every facet of EE society you would encounter this word. Maybe you used it yourself, in fact i think it’s pretty much an guarantee you did.

"Reported" is the first line of defense against trollers, expressing disapproval, or even pointing and laughing at the deficiency of the /reportabuse system.
Has anyone ever imagined that /reportabuse LickMyTroll1969 for trolling the keys in CookieMarioFan1111’s "stair to code" level did actually carry an repercussion to the troller in question? Of course not, nobody cared. Especially not the mods. If anyone even read these reports in the first place. (Highly improbable)
Reported become synonomous with an empty threat. An hollow remark. Nobody was threatened by it, nobody batted an eyelid at the prospect of being "reported". Except maybe the noobiest of noobs that became teary eyed at the prospect of "haxorman" reporting them to Benjaminsen and getting their acc destroyed. But eventually one outgrew these threats. It became what it was. An EE cultural icon.

I don't think it's really a cultural thing to EE itself.
Seen the line be used in other games as well.

It's just a word that children use in online games as a way of trying to have some control over their general state of powerlessness.

Friend: *Doesn't know how to kick*

Troller: *Keeps trolling and blames me for trolling*

Friend: *Blames me for trolling*

Me: *Literally trying to tell what to do, basically panic mode*

Also Me: *I send the troller a PM that I reported him*

Troller: *PMs me that he reported me too*

These don't come from EE, but probably other random memes I saw.

It’s that the first is sincere and shows up on the chat log. While the other is insincere and typed out from the quick chat. Which doesn’t even show up on the ordinary chat log. For when you need to greet someone, but rudely.

Sometimes I wonder if topics like these are made just so that we can get discussion for the first time in like, a week or two.

This forum isn't really active anymore, and it seems like it's mostly active when a new, fresh topic is made. Even though, we only get a few people sharing their thoughts.

Still holding out for EE!, though.
