Actually, N1KF, could you explain the thought process that brought you back here to bring that up 2-6 years down the road?
I really like digging up old topics. My view is that issues don't really disappear over time; they just fester until they get resolved. By checking up on these old things, people can recognize how things have changed, and I think there's a lot of value in that.
I've written a lot of opinionated things on these forums, and I haven't apologized for much of it. I still agree with much of it, and while there are other problems with those posts, I know my intent was good. In this case, I don't feel like I can explain it to myself that way. I defended somebody who can use his power to get away with terrible things. And that's no good!

Sorry for defending Donald Trump back in 2016. I was going to mention it in the 2020 U.S. elections thread but I don't think we got one since nobody talks about politics here anymore.
Don't worry, i'm sure a lot of Germans thought Hitler was a stand up guy too that would fix things before he actually came into power.

Come to think of it, I vaguely remember being surprised by your stance. In short, the take seemed like a rare antisocial-indicating tidbit in a sea of largely prosocial posts. But I suppose it's all the past now
