I could host one more, but Idk if someone else would like to host instead. I don't want to deny them that chance, especially when I hosted the last 2 (even if these forums aren't very lively otherwise).

Gotta say, whispering is a super annoying mehanic, at least for the people who aren't playing but are actively reading, like me. But it was fun checking in every now and then, so gg I guess.

I personally think that the !whisper mechanic can potentially be separated as a role. With some changes.

The whispering mechanic thing was a clunky attempt for sure. I chose to do it the way it was in the game to ensure there would be no cheating, and to ensure that the players were doing it properly. If you have ideas, let me know

That's not the problem; spectators aren't even meant to view whispers.

This was suggested for the sake of every player in the game, not just the spectators.

Actually both the Spy and Blackmailer used to have this ability, they never removed it from the Blackmailer and only removed it from the Spy.

idk I for one loved it
sure it looks boring from a spectator's perspective
but it opens up new ways to solve the game
just look at all the fake claims that were happening in whispers
if the feature wasn't so good, y'all wouldn't be using it so much

well, maybe to nerf the blackmailer and make it a bit simpler for yourself, you could group all of the whispers that have been sent during the day and PM the blackmailer once the night starts
here's another idea:
since we're doing a closed setup, you can add blackmailer to the role list without actually giving it to any of the players
keeps people on their toes without making it much harder for you

This is more a problem with the site culture. Where everyone just doesn’t want to be proactive in solving and this game ends up like that.
I’m not sure any host rules would do a good job in fixing the problem when the root of the problem lies in the players.

Forum mafia and ToS aren't really comparable. It's been a long time since I've played ToS, but I don't recall whispers being used for anything meaningful very often. Also, ToS is a very fast game compared to forum mafia.

I'm not annoyed by it at all. I thought it was fun. But I also don't need an investigative role to hold my hand.

However, allowing the entire game to be played in whispers made it... too easy? I don't really care either way, but allowing Whispers with some limitation let's people sneak around, but also requires some kind of plan when using them.

Do quicktopics for whipsers. Links are sent to the recipient and to you, and then you forward them to the blackmailer.
