Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I like both those usernames, they’re not cringe at all. I’ve seen some people call you ‘the numbers guy’ even though your username clearly consists of letters too.
But if you are looking for a new username, try being a dumb child - that’s how I got mine 🤷♀️

misspell a phrase that's just uncommon enough for you to not realize it's mispelled
...i thought for most of my life that it was spelled "yippy ky yay" and not "yippee ki yay"

Yes, misspelling things makes for the best usernames.

Just see what people eventually start calling you, i've started changing my username to Norwee recently. Much more concise, rolls easy off the tongue and sounds good.

This topic is making me realise a lot of us have pretty bad usernames lol, myself included.
I've thought about this a lot actually, at least for a few years. Over time I've thought of lots of usernames but never decided on one. Recently I came up with one which is by far my favourite. The lesson here is that it might take a long time to find a "perfect" name. On the other hand, your username doesn't need to be perfect, so maybe just pick the first thing that isn't cringe to you.
The way I've been coming up with usernames is mainly using two things:
- words that sound cool to me
- references to media that I like
I've also seen people do the first one, except it's a completely made up word, but I've never really been able to do that. Some people can also get nice usernames by taking their real name and changing/adding something.

You're overthinking it. It's dumb to feel self-conscious about your username - consider that you probably don't rate other people by their nicknames, and so you're probably the only one who thinks yours is cringe.
They're all just names, created years ago, and we take each others' for granted. Stick with it; it's annoying when people change their nicks.
One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

Don't listen to this man. Create a new account every few years, even if it's for the same website. Never re-use usernames or passwords.

Or just go by multiple identities at the same time, like the cool kids do.

my username story is my grandmas name + her age surrounded in 0's (i played ee on her facebook acc) . then a strange glitch happened which reset my worlds and username. some type of data got erased idk so i named myself "waamy" as in " 'waa my' account is gone " . then i made this forum acc to be like a reference my old username i had on ee.
then i played this game called battlelands royale which was really good at the start before it became a greedy money and multiple skins and map changes aka lazy updates corp. anyway i named myself "rookiecookie" cause like i thought it was cool cause it rhymed and i was a noob at that game.
too much detail for something nobody cares about but eh i like typing
tldr: losing my ee acc name and being a noob in a fortnite ripoff caused my usernames
gosha is my irl name

I agree with what you're saying but being self-conscious about your username is not the only reason to want to change it. I think of it kind of like wearing nice clothes. It doesn't need to be about impressing others, you can just buy nice clothes because you like them.
You shouldn't change your username for others, but to me it sounds like 2B genuinely doesn't like their username. I wouldn't want to tell someone to stick with a username they don't like just because it's mildly annoying for us to remember who they are. Also not entirely sure if 2B wants to change their nick on this forum or if they just wanted a new username to use elsewhere in the future.

The way I've been coming up with usernames is mainly using two things:
- words that sound cool to me
- references to media that I like
To build off of this, I think something that is easy to symbolise works quite well. It's an aspect of my username that I very much enjoy since it's lead to things like an easily definable aesthetic and jokes/references that incorporate my username. rat, for example, gets a lot of rat jokes in the third party discord. I've also seen noob jokes made about goshanoob and minimania has had jokes about his former crybaby username. I'm sure skullz and the kirby related usernames have had similar experiences as well. This is if you'd appreciate this kind of interaction of course. I recall that whirl was never particularly happy when their username was the subject of jokes/tangential conversation, but I personally think it's quite fun. Some people prefer to build this kind of symbolism with profile pictures rather than usernames like this guy I knew who a lot of people called ducky because he used ducks in his profile pictures. I got my 'branding' entirely accidentally but I'm sure if you thought about it for a while you'd find something you really like or represents you. I think animals or simple household objects would be a good place to start.
