Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

How many version of this game are there?

Hi, not too familiar with this game's recent history. I was looking through some topics lately and I realized there were a bunch of terms being thrown around, mainly "EEO", "EEW", and "EEU". Can someone explain these to me? Why are there 3 other versions of this game? How does this even happen?

Re: How many version of this game are there?

^ In addition, EEU is short for Everybody Edits Universe and EEW is short for Everybody Edits Worlds.

For general purposes, only two of those three exist since EE Offline is unfinished. We don't actually know when EE Offline is coming.

The reason we have EE Universe is because the Flash technology EE uses will be unsupported by browsers as of 2020, and many improvements can be made with coding, design, and physics if it's a whole new game. It's not a remake, though it takes lots of inspiration from original EE. The EE database will be going down, so EE Offline is being made so people can play their old worlds. It's like EE now, but it can load EELVL files and be played offline.

Both EEO and the EEU Open Beta have both been having troubled development, and as we wait longer and longer some users are starting to come up with their own alternatives. This is where Everybody Edits Worlds comes in, a fan-made remake of EEU with slightly more content and open to the general public. This has actually been happening to EE for years, as fans made their own alternative servers: Everybody Edits 2 (not to be confused with the 2.0 update), Everybody Edits Creative Mode, Blocking Blocks, Nobody Edits (not to be confused with the joke website)... If you include unofficial versions of EE there are many, but if you only go with official then we currently only have two.

So to sum it up: EE will turn into EEO as the servers go offline. EEU is its successor in private beta, while EEW is its fan remake which is open to the public.

Theres also the private versions that people have made for fun, such as my own "EE Tundrum Edition".
There's also Gosha's EEJS.

well the game used to have a larger fan base, what you see now is just a tiny fraction of it that didnt quit and is held together mostly by nostalgia
and the nostalgia is caused because many of us pretty much grew up with this game and have been playing it for up to a half of our lives
i think there are also other two contributing factors:

a) since most of us discovered the game at nearly the same age back in 2010-2012, many people of the remaining community are of the same age, which means more common interests therefore more topics for discussion unrelated to this game, which in order holds community together
a community largely dispersed across all age groups would be less likely to endure
i mean, theres a greater potential for a discussion between an 18 year old and a 21 year old than between an 18 year old and a 12 year old unless youre the president of EE

b) the ease of creating custom clients and creating bots led to a common interest for many members of this community, that is programming
its another thing that fuels this community and holds it together
just look at hours long debates between josh and luke in discord and you'll see what i mean

at least thats my perception of things

We all grew up with it and never let go. Almost everyone on the forums have been here since 2011. Although we all are different people, we all have this one strange specific thing in common. But yeah, the lore for EE is such an ungodly amount
