The lockdown isn't as severe as other countries but essentially everything is now closed and the police has power to disperse gatherings and fine people for being outside.

I appreciate the extremes that we see with the public's take on how severe COVID-19 is. It seems that social media has somewhat effectively conveyed the concept of "flattening the curve" at least in the U.S.

On the one hand, we have people who say "wash your hands and you'll be fine" and on the other, we have headlines from swamped areas of Italy where they don't have enough supplies to keep folks alive in the hospitals.

Of course, there's also the extreme where churches (plus Hobby Lobby?!) adamantly continue to meet for some peculiar reason.

I presume nearly every university in the U.S. has taken some steps toward shutting down, so it's moot to share what mine has done! lol

we dotn even have school anymore except for childeren which have parents in an important job (nurse, police, cashier in supermarket, ect) they can go to school so pthsoe parents dotn have to stay home to take car eof their child essentilal were almost in a lcokdown here and this will be our next step if some poeple dont listen the **** their is said tito listen to every entertainemen tis closed ecept you can go outside you hav eto take 1.5metres between each other and yet what do these stupdi poeple do? right parks full of poeple beahces full of people some young people think its fun to make corona party's liek what the **** netherlands what the **** are you doing then theres people sayign they want a lcokdown but they dotn realize that they have to be hom all day long for X weeks/months and can only go to the market once for food and that many company may need to close for ever if people would listen and tkae this **** seriously it would be over faster

I heard alot of rumors about people saying what if the people who had corona were actually zombies, the people from the cemetary would raise and whatnot?
Also heard about strange decade predictions similar to corona. Maybe this is somewhat an example of the end

Not long ago Wife Swap popped up on TV and it had doomsday preppers for the 2012 apocalypse iirc. They were all like "haha well we'll be the ones laughing when the end of the world happens." I can't help but wonder if they gave up on all their prepper stuff after it failed miserably, or if they're sitting there laughing right now in the wake of COVID-19 going berserk mode

No, that seems to require its own consideration. How much of an "apocalypse" is worth it? Sure, in some areas, folks are dying due to a lack of medical resources... but one could address this just by some effective social distancing and planning. Would they need 2012-level doomsday prepping?

Or perhaps they were prepping for the economy to drop? Again, that seems to be a bit of nonsense. But I agree, it would be a bit odd to see them be unprepared despite their preparations

That makes sense, I just thought that some of the sort of people who believed that the world would end because of some ancient shenanigans would be freaking out now, what with it being quite a global thing and the media's love of negative news. Plus the whole supermarket supply destructo mode people have gone into.

It would make more sense if Aztec people got pretty close on the date of end of the world like 8 years ahead, if coronavirus doesn't end the world. Then there's something that is coming like big meteor coming to the Earth from what I heard, but it's far away
