Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

yo I know what you're talking about but I don't remember who made it. Just thought I'd say this to let you know you aren't crazy or alone

4 times slower physics to show why this "bug" occurs. From what i can see its just pixel perfect diagonal slide

that is impossible as you would collide with the block and if you wotn you woudl touch the spike so it would have cause ssomehting else

Its because EE uses a hack to allow you to fall into one block gaps, you only collide with blocks that are in the 2x2 square which you're ending up in, so the last frame you're next to a block you can actually go through it:
It just happens that in this case you're moving so fast and are in the exact correct position for you to both enter and leave blocks at the exact same frame, and clip through them both.
(This is something we've currently fixed in EEU )

That is very possible. Continuous Collision Detection (CCD) works horizontally and vertically, that's why you can't go through blocks on high speeds. But there is a catch with perpendicular movement.
Since a spike is not a solid block, Vertical CCD doesn't stop you and lets you to continue your movement.
But smile's speed is bigger than 1 block per tick and it's moving perpendicularly.
On the first tick you are in the red box (shown below).
The next tick calculates your position to be in the green box and Vertical CCD doesn't stop you because there is no solid block in purple area.
In order for you to die from spike you have to be inside the block (1/2 of your body must be within the block), but you don't even touch it, you pass through it.
EDIT: Luke ninja'd, but practically told the same thing with less text

Here is an improved version. This simulation runs 13.6 times slower than the regular game.
NOTE: this is not lag, this is not slowed down video. This is real time simulation of physics at slower speeds. Each "movement frame" here represents a game tick, so now it's much easier to see what's going on.
As Luke and I said, the player moves faster than 1 block per tick, that's why it can just skip it.

It looks like teleportation because it is teleportation.
This is the same as movies. Movies are just rapidly changing pictures. They change so fast that you don't even notice them and see a continuous movie. Only when you slow it down you'd be able to see individual pictures.
Same goes for any game. When you have 60 fps it means there are 60 frames per second. It's so fast that your eyes don't even notice them. But when you decrease it you'll experience lag - you will be able to see individual frames.

so every time i press for exmaple > and move 1 block to the right 16 frames played in like 1/60*16 seconds? (asumign no lag) btu how does it just 'move' inside there (from red to green) as i twoudl have to pass inside the blcok right? i mean vertical colisison doesnt stop you but horizoantal should?
