why do half blocks look like crap on the minimap

place some white halfblocks: grey. grey halfblocks: black

red halfblocks: maroon
purple halfblocks: An undescribable color.

WHY?

Maybe because if every red block would have the same exact color of red minimap art would look bad with only 7 colors or something.  It might look like a bad color but it's a different color from for example a beta block of the same color.

I guess whoever implemented it wanted it to be semi-transparent, but couldn't be bothered to implment semi-transparency, so just decided to assume it was on a black background XD

(1 + 5 + 2 + 4)/4 =  3.

Minimap color is calculated the same way, you take all the pixels in the block and average them out.
each pixel contains 4 channels. Red, Green, Blue and Alpha.

Color channels are self-explanatory. Alpha controls the transparency of the image

transparent pixel is 0-Red, 0-Green, 0-Blue, 0-Alpha
The person who wrote the code didn't include the alpha channel in their calculation, so transparent pixel looks like this: (0, 0, 0), which happens to be a black pixel. (black pixel is (0, 0, 0, 255), and the default value for alpha channel is 255)

Halfblocks/one-ways have half of their image transparent, that's why when it averages out the values, the block has 50% of the brightness it should have.

I could fix it very easily, but it will ruin the look of the minimap in many worlds

so the 4th coolor is black-white? er wait no i mean the 4th color is just tranperency? or how is that possiible? can we mess aorund wiht the 4th value in an overlapping bg color over an already /bgcolor?

The 4th 'color' is transparency, and that isn't in ee /bgcolor because what would show up behind the bg then?
