Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Should toxic waste be insta-kill?

I think it could have more use if it had a burning effect like lava, but with water physics.  So it'd be like deadly water, with lava being deadly mud (slower).

A little weird that toxic waste is deadlier than lava, but I guess fire is deadlier than lava too //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

Re: Should toxic waste be insta-kill?

The idea was to make it an insta-kill so it acts differently to the current blocks, otherwise it would pretty much just be a recoloured lava with slightly different physics. Not sure if it really makes sense for it to be an insta-kill, but an insta-kill liquid might be useful in some cases, so we might as well have one //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/tongue

I like that it's insta-kill because it means I can have a liquid hazard that doesn't take time to kill you

Lava should be insta-kill while toxic waste should take time to kill.

Honestly I would much more love it if it had death effect like lava but if you get out of the acid before the timer effect runs out, it is cancelled

That'd be cool, you could use that like a breathing timer instead of messing around with curses for it.

Exactly, it is kind of lame that acid is essentially spikes when you dont have heal and water/mud when you have it

Honestly, I had expected it to literally just be a lava reskin/recolor and would have been fine with that too, as it gives more choices to work with a theme.  Like the other day I was wishing we had a dark black liquid for tar, but mud with black background is still very obviously brown.  We have hundreds of choices for identical-acting blocks, but each liquid has its own effects, but do not have the same freedom of use.  Would be cool if options could be set for liquids, like setting lava to burn for 10 seconds, or even making water insta-kill, or make toxic waste to swim freely in

That would work better I think!  Or maybe the effect remains but pauses briefly when you exit?  Like your meter begins to refill when outside of the liquid and when full, is removed, but when you enter it begins to decrease once more.

Re: Should toxic waste be insta-kill?

Hey, when the reboot happens, I feel like Lava should be insta kill, amd fire should be a slow 3-4 second kill.  Going into fire amd then lava wouldnt kill you because your on fire.  You'd die from the fire, not tue lava.

that, plus timeout death from the acid
would be really cool
also, if we're speaking of reboot here, insta death in lava could have some kind of burning death animation, because smiley just popping once it touches liquid (acid in current state of things) looks really really stupid

Re: Should toxic waste be insta-kill?

How about an instakill liquid, and a timed kill liquid, and then backgrounds that changes the liquid from lava/acid/whatever?

Add lifes already, like in minecraft.

Fire -1 Life/Second (-2 if zombie)
Lava -3 Life/Second (-5 if zombie)
Toxic -0.5 Life/Second (null if zombie)
Spikes Instakill
Zombie: Timer or -X lifes per second

Instead of heal effect - make it a heart symbol, which sets your lifes count 1-999
0: If you die, checkpoints wont reset you (like hard man de)
-1: Infinite (basically heal effect)

Id support this.

No
Health system in EE is not happening and hopefully in reboot neither

Give me at least one reason why not.

I could use it for easy modes, rpg games, but easier then switches...

don't confuse different game genres. You can't just combine them and their features, you'll get a mess

I play a game called Pixel Worlds where a health system is present and works with traps.  When not being damaged, you heal back after 5 or so seconds.  Some take away about a fifth of your health per hit, with the others being insta-kill.  An example of a few traps:

Cactus: thorny, touching it bounces you back and harms
Lava: solid block, also bounces you away harming you, making a sizzling sound
Poison trap: safe block initially which releases poison gas, slowly depleting your health as it also inflicts slow and low jump for a few seconds

Spike trap: safe block initially that releases spikes out one block in one direction, before retracting.  Insta-kill
Tesla orb: sphere that turns electric every few seconds, can be passed through when off, zaps and insta-kills if touching when on
Giant laser: safe block initially that gives a warning line of fire before blasting a long, continuous beam out until it hits a wall, insta-kill.

I think there are some very cool possibilities here.  Combining genres isn't always a mess, though you may have to clean up the edges to make it work more properly.
