What are the requirements of good games? What are you looking up to in them?
Personally I really like attention to details. Specifically stairs physics
It's pleasing to my eyes to see nice stairs physics where people's legs move from one stair to another. If I see that stairs hotbox is just a slope - that really upsets my feelings about the game

When looking for a game to play I look for a few different things, such as:
No micro/macro transactions
Isn't made by some **** AAA company (E.g Ea)
If it's indie (I Love indie games)
If its difficult (Challenge makes the game all the more enjoyable.)
That's all really, I just like games that have thought put into them

Challenging gameplay, good+consistent aesthetic, good/immersive storytelling. How the story is told and how the gameplay feels alongside the story is more important than the story itself.

lots of gameplay, appealing visuals (but it doesnt have to be stunning graphics that only top tier NVidia GPUs can render), the will to play through singleplayer over and over (Skyrim, Minecraft)
interesting/large lore is a good plus (TES games, STALKER games)
lots of mods is a solid plus (TES games, MC, Battlefield 2)
realism (either built in or brought in by mods) is a fine plus for me but not necessary (insurgency, red orchestra 2, BF2 modded, skyrim modded)
possibility to customize the game through files/modding tools by yourself (UT2004, BF2)
as for strictly multiplayer games:
good community (definitely NOT CS:GO)
no pay2win
balanced gameplay
as for browser games:
ability to place blocks everywhere (Everybody Edits)

Favorite Games or any type of media is completely subjective. Some guy's favorite game may be Sonic 06 while some might be Ocarina of Time.
It honestly needs one basic thing not a lot of people look for in a game, and that's pure passion. If a developer doesn't have passion towards a project they're making then the game is gonna suck ****. Video games aren't just something to entertain someone. It's a vision someone is working on.
My favorite game of all time has to be Ocarina of Time or Pokemon Heartgold. Either one had just pure love poured into it and when someone puts love into something, you can tell.

i personally think games need more replayability, or an incentive to keep playing after you've done the campaign or whatever. i also think that story is important to a game too; it adds a lot more entertainment to the game, i think. one of the other things i like to see are good character designs, a good simple, easy to describe and explain protagonist, like sonic the hedgehog: a short, blue, anthropomorphic hedghog who can run faster than sound, or mario: a short, italian plumber who saves a princess who always gets kidnapped. another thing that i find required for a game to succeed is a really good soundtrack, like halo's soundtrack, or destiny's soundtrack or nier: automata's soundtrack.
games that can also be altered by mods is also really nice to have, for example, fallout 4. fallout 4 was kind of boring after you:
but since mods came with it, the fallout 4 community has been able to extend the game, to the point where small teams of modders are creating full-sized dlcs as mods, which i find really neato.
I play pretty much only multiplayer games, so for me a large playerbase is important or it gets boring.
The gameplay and the graphics could be bad, but if the players are entertaining they make up for it.

Here's one nitpick of mine: no webgames unless they actually rely on online functions (ESPECIALLY with Kongregate) or they're designed such that losing progress isn't a problem. E.g. MoneySeize and Give Up Robot both have a habit to get pretty laggy in the sites they're provided on, and they don't seem to keep a solid grip on save data. But something like Mine of Sight is fine, as lag doesn't do much to it, and there's not much to losing progress since all you really need to remember is which levels you've already beaten.

Replayability and genre. Stellaris is REALLY cool on this factor. It's like Star Wars Battlefront II for the PS2 but only the galaxy map, but there's a lot of micromanagements on how you run your empire and you have a challenge to overcome (taking over older "Fallen Empires" that have been lying dormant for a while.
Also, games with frequent updates tend to hook me. Something like Everybody Edits, or even something like yugioh (new cards get printed very often) and this is also why I no longer play something like the Platform Racing series.

I really like random elements in games of the rougelike genre. Being able to play games that are never quite the same each playthrough keeps gameplay fresh and you never know what to expect. Also becoming op via pickups always is fun.
I suppose EE can relate to these as worlds are plentiful and usually very different.

charm, camp, decent characters and story, but this mostly applies to RPGs. I think camp is the most important thing because otherwise it makes a game feel kinda... without spirit?

This is not a requirement for me, but it's still a peeve of mine: Rotated sprites and pixels. Rather than actually resprite diagonal rotations, a lot of games go the lazy way of simply rotating. Also sprite resizing, made even worse if it's not in multiples of 100%.
I noticed this issue with Sonic Mania. The genesis Sonic games had unique frames for running/walking diagonally when on slopes, but in Mania the game just rotates the sprites, which is strange since they added more frames for smoother animations, but didn't bother using rotsprite.
