I think most people assume everyone who doesn't have an obvious girl name is a guy, at least I do. For some reason I linked mait to a girl, maybe it's because in the pronunciation of your name is the same as a word in my language that means girl.

Lots of people on the internet have assumed I was a girl, they probably thought my name was Ana K or something. I've gotten used to it over the years so despite having quite a masculine appearance I'm not opposed to being called "she" anymore lol.

I've never seen that thread , and it's my favourite thread on the forums from now on.
and yeah , ''Mait'' is like my countrys popular man name and when you go outside from my country literally nobody will know how to pronounce it correctly or think its a girls name.

That depends on what you define as "China"
If you are asking whether or not Taiwan is independent from the People's Republic of China then yes, it is. Taiwan has it's own government, law, army, and culture. It is to be considered an independent country in every aspect except officially. Officially there is only one China which includes both Taiwanese and Chinese territories under one government, either the Republic of China's (ROC) or the People's Republic of China's (PRC) authority, with either or being seen as legitimate or illegitimate by various other countries.

Putting it simple:

ROC (Taiwan) explanation: Our goverment is the legitimate authority over the entirety of China and Taiwan while the Communist PRC are usurpers.

PRC: explanation: Our government is the legitimate authority over the entirety of China and Taiwan, which is a rebel province that we will take over by force.

Sane explanation: They are both independent countries that have grown different in many ways over time but they still claim authority over the other's territory, with neither having declared independence from the other.
