Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Dude it's a small or medium world, why do you need whole week for it?
mutantdevle wrote:I think it's very optimistic to expect someone to build an entire 100x100 world in 4 days.
Certainly, not!
It's possible if you don't give up!It's possible if you spend all day every day on it. Not all of us can. I probably would be able to but I doubt most people would be able to produce anything of decent quality. For teams, sure, but people working on their own who can only spend 1 or 2 hours a day on it are inherently at a disadvantage.
Not only that, but some members have a timezone difference, which is really problem.
So yea, one world per one week is better so people will have more time to do that
but sadly everyone have 4 or 5 days to create and complete it

Surviving the tight judging deadlines by drinking truckloads of tea accompanied with Wagner playing in the background.

Will you be offering emotional support for players who are placed against pros in the first round?

I'm imagining that many "pros" will act overconfident and create only an half-decent world for the first round if they think their enemy team are noobs, which means that if that other team goes above and beyond they might defeat them. Don't lose hope!

don't do like italy at worldcup guys
Is there a specific judging criteria or is it just making a good world?
It's not easy to say, we are 5 judges in total. And it seems like we will be given more or less free reign to judge what we ourselves decide to focus on. I think your number one priority should be to follow the theme that is given each round. Then you should focus on art, gameplay and the level concept.
As for me personally i will be judging the gameplay first and foremost, so i feel like you should work your art around that. Don't just make an level with nice minimap art that has bad gameplay, focus on making the full package. Art is nice and important obviously, but don't let it be detrimental to gameplay, also another important factor is how creative your level is. It's fine and dandy to make an simpler platforming level, but if your enemy team makes an creative level which has clever concepts and does it well, obviously they would rank higher.
If the theme specifically calls for art or some kind of concept then you should focus fully on that however.
Overall, just make a good level that you think people would enjoy to play.

Have the themes already been decided? If not, who picks them? And do the judges know ahead of time what the themes are going to be?

judges pick them, and we have a bunch of theme ideas so far, but we haven't planned out which themes will be picked for which rounds. We do know what the round 1 theme will be though
also yes judges know ahead of time what they'll be but dont go pestering them to try to get them to tell you lol

And the first theme definitly isn't "ducks"
