There is an infinite number of opportunities for puzzles involving them, and I'm sure there's a lot of overlap with the use of invisible arrows, like setting someone back to the start of a mini without looking too ugly. Boosts are faster and safer for this use but they look ugly.

I'm kinda pesimistic about this, not really sure how could it be useful for. Maybe something that really could be made in reboot? Otherwise it's just possible with invisible portals as Slabdrill has mentioned above.

For all of you non-supporters, I completely understand. People can abuse these invisible boosts in a bad way.
However, this does have its advantages. For example, say you want to hyper-loop someone without the use of teleporters and want it to look nice, well invisible boosts can do just that. It can keep the use of backgrounds nice and clean without the design of normal boosts getting in the way.
Remember, we also complained about invisible arrows, and yet they got added. Whats not to like about invisible boosts?

Everything. Anything that moves the player in any way should be visible, it is unintuitive and awful to play.

Its more like anything that moves the player in any way should be obvious. When used well invisible blocks can be a very useful feature, its just that half the time they aren't.

I already made a thread about this somewhere. It encourages bad level design which in turn lowers the quality of the lobby and deters new players.

I guess its a problem of which is to blame, is it the player for using the block badly, or is it the block for allowing the player to use it badly. And there are loads of blocks that are fairly easy to use badly, for example spikes, invisible portals, etc. it's just a question of how useful the block needs to be to offset the disadvantage of it often being used in unintended ways that make levels worse.

YES!
Finally i can make hard parkour challenges, putting invisible boosts on top of random blocks, making the player fall!
Also usable for making the player have to navigate an invisible maze of boosts that will "boost" you all the way back to the beginning if you fail the trial and error challenge.
And think of the revolutionary new elevator challenges, by making them invisible it will boost level difficulty and quality by 50%!
Please implement!
