Castilian Spanish refers to the variety of Peninsular Spanish spoken in northern and central Spain or as the language standard for radio and TV speakers.
What's going to happen with Catalonia?
This topic is limited to linguistic questions only regarding grammar, vocabulary... But to answer your question, nothing.

What makes Castillian Spanish unique from other Spanish dialects?
It's the Spanish spoken in its birthplace.
Distinction between the phonemes /θ/ and /s/ (distinción vs. seseo and ceceo).
Other phonetic differences (for example, in Castilian 'Atlántico' is said as 'At-lán-ti-co', whereas in Latin America it's said 'A-tlán-ti-co').
Distinction between the informal second person of the plural (vosotros) and the formal second person of the plural (ustedes).
Differences regarding vocabulary (in Castilian the word for 'car' is 'coche' whereas in Latin America 'auto' or 'carro' is used instead, although 'carro' in Castilian is a different word).
Little to no influence from Native American languages.
Differences regarding past verb tenses used depending on the situation (past compound 'Ya he llegado' ['I have arrived'] vs past simple 'Ya llegué' ['I arrived']).
Different slang.

Billón means trillion not billion (mil millones)
Bizarro means brave or noble not bizarre (extraño)
Excitado means aroused not excited (emocionado)
Fábrica means factory not fabric (tela or tejido)
Largo means long not large (grande)
Pie means foot not pie (pastel)
Actualmente means currently not actually (realmente)
