Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Make a rule against "user exposed" topics

This forum shouldn't become a dumping ground for personal business people have with each other.

But I love reading 3000-word paragraphs written in bad English by people I don't know about people I don't care about.

Why do you always want to block something

Do you really think that making this rule valid will decrease about of these topics? No. The only thing this rule will bring us - unnecessary bans

Re: Make a rule against "user exposed" topics

Four people are in support of this, while we only have one person to openly resist this so far. I want to see an official response to this.

I don't disagree but I don't see this as big enough of a problem to do anything about it. When was the last one of these we had? Who was it about? Does anyone remember without looking it up?

Re: Make a rule against "user exposed" topics

I think the forum becomes too much of a safespace when you introduce rules like this. I don't agree with bringing personal business to the public eye either, but I don't think that in itself is worthy of a new rule. Forums are for discussions, so if someone does get called out for something, they at least have a platform to defend themself. As long as there's no flaming or cyberbullying or other rules being broken, I think that these topics are acceptable.

They're often framed as "Look how evil this user is" which is not a productive way to deal with things. In my opinion, it should be the moderators' job to push towards having a better community. We could make the distinction between calling out users and calling out things users do, but the line could be blurry at times so perhaps my idea isn't the best solution to the problem.

but that's kinda tough to draw the line between where a user is being sincere as opposed to just being negative and antagonistic. We have certain interactions with users where they are often intended as negative but are received positively. Should we reprimand the user for being "mean" or commend them for coming across as "nice"?

Do you have any examples of this?
