Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Not bad for a first smiley graphic but it's not really an "Everybody Edits" smiley.
The body is too flat, you only used one brown solid color.
Where's the smiley border?
The eyes and nose are too small.
The most smileys just have black dots as eyes.
Smileys don't have legs.
The tail feathers aren't really realistic (also very flat).
It's better to make a new one instead of improving it.

ok well if you expect me to criticize art that isnt initially made for ee within the ee community then you better rethink your standards
besides, should you be "dealing with anger"?
It's his first time spriting, he/she is learning, give them a break. Also it's considered an "Idea" EE could think of. You know, just for a week or 2 during Thanksgiving?

It's Electric Programmer's first time making sprites; he or she is learning, so give them a break. Also, it's considered an "idea" EE could use. You know, just for a week or two around Thanksgiving?
I think that's what Joeyc meant to say.
Also, Joeyc, I'm confused as to why you refer to Electric Programmer as he, he/she, and they.
