also yes. But isn't that ransomware simply accidentally infecting all those important things? I mean, not so much accident but more incidentally. ?

It's attacking indiscriminately, it has no set targets. Since big corporations are really homogeneous though, if it can slip inside at all it will often infect the whole thing leading to big news about a company going down.

You dont need a new PC, just the latest version of your OS

Why not? What have you tried and what didnt work?
You should always be able to install a new version of an operating system independant of what hardware you have (unless it is 50 years old or something)
