Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

...just gonna ignore what's above me
This could be blasphemy but I thought the ending of Clannad: After Story sucked. I think when that bad thing happened it was nice to see his recovery from depression, but when the other bad thing happened it was just like "lol jk" and everything was okay. idk maybe I'm just weird.

btw if you like Watamote then Welcome To The NHK has a sort of similar character except he's a guy, also it's less frustrating to watch than Watamote.

If you like romance animes, you should watch Nisekoi. It's about a guy that is forced to date the new transfer student by their respective gangs. It's also a harem anime.

I got back into anime, and stumbled upon this thread. Here are some great anime series that I remember very well:
- Death Note: Thriller, mystery/detective, suspense. Excellent plot except for the second half, starts feeling forced but still one of the best anime ever made
- Steins;gate: An escapist time-travel thriller about a guy trying to stop an event from occurring
- Terror in Resonance: A morally ambiguous anime about two terrorist boys in a rich, melancholic storyline
- Kaiba: A sci-fi anime with a convincing, emotional plotline with heavy symbolism
- Monster: An expert surgeon chooses to revive a boy who's an extreme psychopath
- Erased: Time travel story with an on-the-edge plot. A little similar to Steins;gate with preventing events from taking place
- Your Lie In April: Amazing classical music, plot, characters, enough said. About two musicians dealing with their own problems
- Samurai Champloo: Two samurais and a geisha on a journey to find the geisha's father - a samurai who smells like sunflowers. Great mix of comedy and maturity. Watch the dubbed version - it's better IMO
I don't watch a lot, so yeah. I know there are lots and lots of good anime out there that I haven't watched yet.
Since most people are just naming anime they like rather than their single favourite, I'll recommend more.
Gurren Lagann - don't take this one too seriously, it's supposed to be stupidly over the top and unrealistic. But if you like something fun, exciting, light hearted and with plenty of action, this one is for you. (mecha anime)
Steins;Gate - I don't remember this one too well because it's been a while, but I remember liking it.
Attack on Titan - Yes I know it's mainstream and probably overrated but it's still a really good anime imo.
Death Note - One of the best anime of all time. I strongly recommend this one.
Hunter x Hunter (2011) - Probably my favourite shonen anime, as well as one of my favourite anime overall. It's not actually finished (it goes on hiatus quite often, and the hiatuses last a very long time) but the place where the anime left off is a satisfying ending imo. If you want to continue, you can move onto the manga but then you won't get a satisfying ending and you'll have to deal with years of waiting for the hiatus to end.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - yeah there's also this one. This isn't necessarily one of my personal favourites but a lot of people like it so idk check it out if you want. (I do like this anime, it's just a little overrated imo)
Tatami Galaxy - This is a nice a slice of life anime. I would say it's quite comfy in the sense that there's no particularly intense or emotional scenes. It's about a guy who enters college with a really optimistic rose-tinted view of what it will be like, and when it goes wrong he meets some dude who turns back the time for him so he can start again and do things differently. Every episode is like this; it's episodic. I suppose the main theme is that every choice you make matters and can change the course of your future more than you think. It's a really nice anime, but it's probably not for everyone. Watch it if you're into slice of life and you don't mind something that isn't super dramatic or intense.
Angel Beats - I'm not that into most Key/Kyoto stuff, but Angel Beats is really good. I got really emotional at some parts and there was never a dull moment. The concept is quite interesting too. Also it's relatively short so you should be able to get through it quickly.
One Outs - baseball anime. This is the only sports anime I've seen, but I think it's a unique one. Very focused on strategic plays and outsmarting the opponent with psychological tricks. The guy who wrote the manga also wrote another manga called Liar Game which is similar except it's 100% about psychology and has nothing to do with sports. I recommend this manga, it's good if you're into this clever sort of stuff.
Can't think of anything else atm.
