The argument now for re-modding has been complete ****, and it invalidates the actions taken in part due to the aforementioned valid points that were the reason for demotion in the first place.

Just because Zoey (apparently) behaves better than most of the community, doesn't mean that there aren't better available options. (i.e. Koya).
The argument Processor used on IRC was one of a lack of availability.
The solution is a moderator with responsibility, maturity and unbiased logical reasoning, if there is a lack of availability - more staff is needed.
Arguably, there isn't a huge need for moderation with only 6-7 posts per hour.

b) Temporary demods can be effective sometimes, just like temporary bans can be effective. Mods won't usually be given a third chance though.

Remember when I said that temp demotions don't work? When I was temporarily demoted back in like 2012 or whatever I didn't even witness it personally. I slept through the whole thing, by the time I woke up I was already re-modded. But it still worked. I never accidentally left a rogue IRC bot online ever again. People don't get demoted because they called someone's face dumb, they get demoted for serious stuff. If you actually get demoted for any length of time, it's because you screwed up bad.

Was what zoey did absolutely 100% retarded? Yeah. Crap like that should never happen. Was it worth a massive slap upside the head? Absolutely. But is it worth completely losing a mod who is already trained and ready to mod, has experience moderating, 99.995% of the time is absolutely fine, and who's online 24/7 thanks to the fact that she (currently) is a hermit or something because of a lapse in judgement? Ehh, I can't say it is.

Staff aren't perfect, they make mistakes. You deal with it and make sure it doesn't happen again and then you move on.

I don't mind zoe personally but this is just moderatorship, not an episode of The Bachelor. If you were gonna demod her you should have stuck with it.

There is no rationalizing to staff that have shown numerous times they will not be themselves held accountable.
It must be very reassuring to members that staff can deface signatures with gore and only get a slap on the wrist.
