I'm pretty sure things like this would still happen due to how easy it can be sometimes to illegally obtain guns
+ banning guns would remove the civilian's defenses against situations like this and other things such as robberies, it's quite the catch 22.
A mix of gun control and freedom would be the best option so far on such a complicated issue.

Recently in Sweden a person went on a killing spree. How many did he kill? Only 2. He used a machete. Imagine how many he could have killed if he just legally bought a semi-automatic assault rifle like its possible in many states of the US.

Just because one warped minded "Christian" makes idiotic claims like this doesn't mean all Christians are "homophobes". Our whole church prayed for all these gay people who died, lost loved ones, and were present at this terrible tragedy. Instead of pointing fingers at people and screaming "Homophobes" "Islamaphobes" etc, we should all rally behind these people and grieve for their loss.

Even if gun ownership for civilians is banned, I'm pretty sure anybody who knows the right people at the wrong time can obtain army-grade stuff from the blackmarket. It's sort of a lose-lose situation.

Well I think it will reduce the amount of gun-related homicide. I think the amount of homicides that are prevented by gun control is larger than the amount of interventions that are prevented by gun control. Because the chance of an intervention being successful is pretty small.
