The Story of How I Was a Guardian for a Day (for real)

It's August 29th of 2014 when MrShoe makes a big blog post about the introduction of guardians.  He explained how a lucky few would be chosen to become these so called "guardians".  Of course, this announcement made everyone want to be one of those lucky few.  This caused EE to become a mad house.  People were making polls to see who should be guaridan, getting alts to vote for themselves on these polls, being on their best behavior, and emailing MrShoe to tell them what a wonderful guardian they'd make.  Anything to get his attention.  Well, I was one of these people, except I wasn't making alts to vote for myself or blatantly going out of my way to tell MrShoe how great I was.  Instead, I tried to be even more helpful than I already was.  On the forums and in-game on any server I would be quick to respond to every question anybody asked.  I corrected my in-game grammar to near perfection and I even helped newer players build their apparent first world.  All this in hope of someday becoming a guardian.

A month passes and I'm continuing being one of the most helpful, friendly users in EE.  I'm checking my email when I see one from a "Julian Ridley Pryn".  Isn't that MrShoe's email?  Why would he contact me?  It a group email to three others and myself.  I open it up and the first line reads, "Hi Guardians".  ME?  Is he talking to me?  I continue reading and find that this email is a welcome to guardianship. I did it!  I'm a guardian!  The email goes on to ask a few questions and some forewarning about the community's response.

I respond to the email in a professional manner and ended it with:

"Thanks for promoting me as a Guardian.  I hope to soon serve the community in any way that I can.

Regards, Benjamin" 

I told only my closest friends on EE what had happened and how excited I was to be the newest team member. I was on an emotional high for a couple days.  It wasn't until a few days later that one of my friends named Ultrabass says that he is going to become a guardian too.  I told him about the email and asked who he was on that email.  He said his name was Benjamin.  This is where the poop hit the fan.  MrShoe wasn't talking to me Benjamin, he was talking to Ultrabass Benjamin.  I was devastated.  I thought for a whole week that I was going to become a guardian.  Well, I contacted MrShoe back and corrected his mistake.

Well, what the next couple of emails were confidential.  Let's just say it could've maybe involved some sort of deal between him and I.  But I'm just "guarding" that "secret" for now.

What a lovely story. All in all, it doesn't matter who he appointed; he used everyone involved a scapegoat for his inevitable departure.
Furthermore, he cared very little about the updates he made - he put very little thought into updates later rectified, such as potions.

I think he would be surprised that it actually lasted this long, even with the continuing declination of players, and similar careless decisions.
