Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

My friend and I want to work on code collaboratively.
Currently, we are using kobra.io

We tried that but it doesn't have chat. I don't want to have to be face to face with him

What's stopping you from using Skype, Teamviewer's built in VoIP, or some other solution at the same time?

Well, you currently use kobra, which seems to do the job, otherwise all I can say is use github and some external chat program to communicate about when to pull and push.

Try VSAnywhere: https://vsanywhere.com/web/
It allows you to both work on the same piece of code simultaneously in Visual Studio, and the edits are shown real-time (similar to Google Docs.)
