because apparently you have nothing to spend your energy on
if you're like me, you have everything that costs energy you then have NOTHING to spend your energy on!
so why not trade 150 energy in for 5 or 10 gems?

Worlds. Lots and lots of worlds. Maybe buy a cake or twenty, perhaps some more world portals.
Unspent energy isn't wasted if you have nothing to spend it on. Sit tight and wait for the next update, when you can use your energy again. : )

A. gems cant cost energy. they are something worth real money. energy is free.
a. then again, "time is money" and energy costs time, so by the Transitive property:
energy = time, time = money energy = gems because gems = money
B. the energy cost would have to be unfair. gems should cost a lot of energy so that it would be more favorable to buy gems with cash rather than energy. something like 8000 energy for 5 gems. something totally over priced.

What about login rewards?
That's a dedication thing. I mean, I guess energy is too. But with energy you don't absolutely have to login everyday to eventually get gems. We should never be able to buy gems with energy.
