I've talked about this a couple times before on the server but I want to also talk about it here.

How does the EC community feel about switching to a modded server?

Options include Tekkit, FTB, adventure maps, etc.

And whenever we get "bored" of that we could go back to vanilla, in the same world or a new world depending on what you guys want.

Either that or some type of event.

Personally I am leaning toward a modded server too. But it can't be too many because there are people with less-than-average speed computers.

What are some potential themes for a modpack/server?

Here are a couple that came to mind:
1. Magic aether
• Thaumcraft
• more mobs
• skylands generation

2. Toxic steampunk
• you're poisoned when you go outside
• technic pack
• super cave generation

3. Super realism
• terrafirmacraft
• you can only chat with people within earshot

4. Custom factions
• each faction is decided in advance
• maybe they get to import a custom build of their choosing within some rules
• faction plugin obviously
• enhanced weaponry/enchantments
• more bosses

5. Option 4 + 1, 2, or 3. (eg, Faction skylands, Realistic factions)

Be as creative as possible, and then we can scale it down from there if it proves to be too complex/not possible. Try to consider people with poor specs, too. So maybe not FTB, just the mods people need for your setting to feel realistic.

How poisoned is poisoned in toxic steampunk? What counts as "outside"? Could I build a house on the surface and be safe? And can animals survive outside? How about mobs?

To keep it simple I would probably make the command block check if you have any blocks above you. And by poison I mean poison effect while the condition is met. So more like a continuous acid rain that's also invisible.

Also I'd like to add that custom texture packs are also an option if we're going the modded route. I think those would be tight.

I'll go with 1 + 4 if nobody cares. (Skylands + Thaumcraft + MoreMobs + Factions plugin + Enhanced weaponry/enchantments + more bosses)
