Over the past few unspecified periods of time, Zoey, Towel, and I have been working on rules. Mostly Towel and Zoey. We eventually settled on a set of new rules and warning levels that we feel are better suited to the forums and now we're opening it up for discussion for a few days and let you guys suggest any changes and discuss the decisions we made. We made a big point of trying to condense and simplify the rules, and we'd like to keep it as condensed as possible.

Please take a moment to read this short list.
By using these forums, you agree to abide by the rules.
You also recognize that forum staff has right to take action for any reason deemed fit.
Note that the rules are subject to change at any time without any notice.
Be nice.
Post in the correct subforums; follow subforum rules. Do not spam.
Keep it PG-13. Don't post anything illegal.
Avoid gravedigging, double posting, and quoting the first post
Do not post personal information or impersonate anyone.
Do not mini-mod or abuse the report system.
Get staff permission before creating a new account on the same IP.
Follow the Everybody Edits Terms of Service.

And while that covers basically everything most people will need to know, there are some specific details that are also being changed and clarified. Like a revised warning system:

Post is Flaming - 4 points - 6 months
Post is Flamebaiting - 3 points - 5 months
Post is Spam - 2 points - 4 months
Post is Spam (Off-Topic) - 2 point - 2 months
Post is Inappropriate - 4 points - 6 months
Post is Inappropriate (Language) - 3 points - 5 months
Post is Illegal - 6 points - 1 year
Post contains Personal Info - 6 points - 1 year
Post is Mini-modding - 1 points - 2 months
Report System Abuse - 3 points - 5 months
Account Fraud - 4 points - 6 months

The new system is structured so that the "major" rules being broken will bump you up a whole warning level on their own, while you might be able to get a few smaller slap-on-the-hand warnings before getting your ban length kicked up a big notch.

3 - 1 day ban
6 - 3 day ban
9 - 1 week ban
12 - 1 month ban
15 - 3 month ban
18 - 6 month ban

And to get even more detailed, Towel whipped up "a very sloppy suggestion for warning types based on the current proposed warning scale".

Post is Flaming (Minor Infraction) - 2 points
For words like "idiot" and "stupid" and lighthearted jabs that could be taken the wrong way.
Post is Flaming - 4 points
For straight up flaming like "I hope you die/you're bimpsing retarded"
Post is Flamebaiting - 3 points
Post is Spam - 2 points
Post is Spam (Off-Topic) - 2 point
Post is Inappropriate (Minor infraction) - 2 points
For allusions to drugs/sex/gratuitous violence
Post is Inappropriate - 4 points
For nsfw links, sexual imagery, or explicit language. Like stuff on fanfiction.net <Zoey2070> ao3 <Zoey2070> or, well, literotica i guess lol
Post is Inappropriate (Language) - 3 points
Censor evasion, mostly
Post is Illegal - 6 points - 1 year
Post contains Personal Info (Minor infraction) - 3 points
For smaller things like referring to somebody by their first name or posting a picture without consent
Post contains Personal Info - 6 points
Linking somebody else's facebook, posting addresses, doxxing with malicious intent
Post is Mini-modding - 1 points
Report System Abuse (Minor infraction) - 1 points
Misusing the system due to a misunderstanding (for the newbies)
Report System Abuse - 4 points
Purposefully antagonizing the forum staff or spamming the system.
Account Fraud - 3 points
Making an alt without permission
Ban evasion - 4 points
Making an account without permission to evade a ban

I think that the warning + ban systems are fine as they are currently. The rules do need tweaking, though, so I do like the new ones made.
The only problem with the ban system is Pingohits bypassing it

I don't, because minor offenses in the same vein as major offenses are punished equally. Sometimes I want to give a warning for a minor offense that basically says "hey dont do that" with minor weight attached to it, but instead it's either a ban for a week or nothing.

I mean I like the concept, get it more stricter.
but some ppl make mistakes osme times.
so...
something like first 5 times ok.. 1-3 day ban.
then it gets severe to months and years.
then perma ban

I actually do agree that it still feels unnecessarily strict, especially for this small forum. For warning types I'd say lower each (except for a certain few) by 1 point while keeping the warning levels the same as they are proposed in the OP. Like:

Can you add just a chat ban?
use still can see everyting, can see active topics, can woot, but cant reply to any topics , cant speak in pm and cant cnage his profile info (like sign and avatar)

They are too long. No matter what they are.

If you're posting personal information, or posting illegal content, that's not good. Nobody should ever do that. Ideally nobody should ever break any of the rules, but especially not those ones. If someone does, it should have a steep penalty, and it shouldn't fade away in just a month or two. If it faded away like that, they could break a major rule every few months or so and get away with not ever being banned for more than 3 days. If someone breaks a major rule, it should stick around and follow them for a long time.

On that note.
If someone is banned for 6 months, do [most of] their warnings expire?
Or does the ban freeze them?
