Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Is EE A Kids Game?

I'm pretty sure every kid is swearing and trolling more than the so called "mature" people do so i don't get all this fuzz about catering to kids when they are just as bad if not worse than we are.

I sure was.

10 or less years old kids shouldn't even be in the internet.

I don't know how is in other countries but I live in Europe, and Europe has a large and rich cultural heritage and you may see some <snip> statues everywhere. In some rare cases some pigeons may censor some parts by making nests, but were getting off topic.
But after all, there should be a line between art and making inappropriate discussions.

oh, man, artistic nudity is a COMPLETELY different discussion. well, i guess more like a branch off of this one. it's one of my favorite topics regarding EE!! because, like, most people don't get upset if their kids see the statue of David. How do you classify artistic nudity vs something inappropriate? that's a subjective thing! cjmaeder loadleveled a world like 50 times and banned an alt for this not entirely appropriate but not entirely inappropriate image.

but yet all nudity is banned on ee despite there being obviously okay things. and the thing is, how inappropriate nudity is is also based on culture! america is way more uptight about nudity than europe!

<&Processor> I dont think you can get a game pass PG-13 if you have artistic nudity in it
<@Zoey2070> dude
<@Zoey2070> animal crossing is rated E for everyone and it has penises in it
http://www.thonky.com/animal-crossing-n … rks-of-art

so. where is the line drawn? thirteen year olds will know the concept of artistic nudity. kids probably won't care much.

Re: Is EE A Kids Game?

Zoey did you seriously just compare anything made in EE to the statue of David?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

ok first of all- let's all admit that if someone is going do draw a naked person in EE, it PROBABLY isn't going to be for the artistic value. How do I know? Because I've been in this community for a long time and I know what kind of people play. I don't think we have any Michelangelos here.

There is SUCH a huge gap between art and "art" in EE. For one thing, sculpting takes forever and takes SKILLS, while in EE all you do is move your hand slightly. (Don't give me the "what about digital art" Schtick bc I have strong opinions about that and you won't like them lol).

This is one of MY favorite topics in EE. Skills vs "skills".

i'm not saying LITERALLY michelangelo. but like, if i were to autobuild what is undeniably a masterpiece then i'd get banned? and idk, just because it PROBABLY won't be doesn't mean it ALWAYS won't be.

also, let's completely disregard the act of sculpting. let's take this drawing. oh, but all it involved is moving a hand slightly. don't discredit digital art because of the medium -- it still takes a certain amount of skill to create something in EE. yes, it doesn't require a lot of physical exertion, but art is still art. have you SEEN my art? it's terrible. i can't even bring myself to show it. i don't have any artistic skills. that's proof that not everyone can be a great artist in ee because it's JUST moving your hand slightly.

eh, we're getting off-topic.

Re: Is EE A Kids Game?

Yeah but people spend years and years and years studying and perfecting their various art forms in real life while on EE, we have 15 year olds making hella rad stuff that took them MAYBE 2 days. I'm just saying you're comparing apples to rotten oranges.

I'm not talking about physical exertion, I'm talking about the mental effort and commitment to a passion that drives art in real life.

If someone auto builds the statue of David I don't think they should be banned. But if they are just drawing naked people for things and giggles....I would hesitate to compare it to a "masterpiece"

Sorry for off topic. I think EE can be either a kids game or an adults game off topic dilemma deleted

Re: Is EE A Kids Game?

I should add a note, when I mentioned artistic nudity I was referring to the works of Helvi and Asspirate. Though I know not the fate of the latter, the former had drawn pictures of woman (which in my opinion were completely within the range of appropriate), and was later banned by Mr. Shoe for drawing nudity.

Helvi was later unbanned due to a miscommunication of what the old moderators found appropriate, though his artwork had to be cleared. The moderators now seem to be even stricter about nudity, especially since (as Zoey so kindly put it), a bot account was banned that used EEArtist to draw this image in a world.

I can certainly understand why a younger audience may find this uncomfortable, but for those who are older and/or are more accepting of what we consider artistic media, there is/was nothing wrong that picture and/or the art of Helvi and Asspirate. Yet Helvi, at least, was reprimanded anyway.

I started playing EE when I was like 9. I liked it and continued. It all depends on what the child likes.

I disagree, and this is getting a little off topic. Though it's not comparable to probably some of the greats, EE Artists have developed their own unique styles. Users like Kiraninja, Stagecrew, Bladeninji, Dazz, Tokebot, Boh, and Lictor666 stand out to me. I'm sure there are more. Just because EE is a small game, it should not devalue art that is quality.

Furthermore, if you even draw anything that is close to boobs os resembles male genitalia, even if it's only suggestive, you can still get banned.

Re: Is EE A Kids Game?

EE is more of a "Family Friendly" game where it's fun for all ages to play. Similar to Minecraft, it's fun for kids to play while adults can be artistic and make wonderful things out of what they have. With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised especially in this day and age that artistic nudity ends up getting you banned, because they last thing Nou wants is a bunch of parents getting mad at him. Just remember, back in the day even chat became an issue because of how angry parents were at Chris that their child was talking to some random strangers on the internet, so where we are at now is a pretty big improvement.

I think it's a good topic, and one relevant to discuss, in light of all the recent bans.

I highly doubt it has to do with the parents, and more with the players. A lot of children are sensitive to swear words and nudity, neither of which I think are inherently bad, but because of American PC culture are held greatly with negative connotations. Hell, you call most people a noob and it's like WW3.

I've also never considered EE "family friendly". There are many ways to be a nuisance without getting banned, and the moderation is overall pretty lax. Thus a lot of players feel frustrated when they get banned for reporting someone who has seemingly broken a rule (though really they haven't.) If you're looking for family friendly go play neopets or club penguin. You even try to say a swear there and you're banned for life.

My grandfather paints for decades, and his paintings are ugly as hell. I think Edvard Munch and a lot of other artists sucks, with or without years of practice (IMO). Also, you can't forget that whatever the reason, Duchamp's Fountain (a porcelain urinal) is still in Centre Pompidou, being treated as art (even though it is "just" a porcelain urinal)
I don't want to change your point of view, because it's futile to try to do this on the internet. But just a friendly reminder that art is subjective as hell.

And about nudity, what I think makes nudity a problem is not it's form, but what it represents. You can't put online pornography, uncensored cartoon scenes, Michelangelo's statues, and stuff like that in the same bag.
It's like calling someone fat. Depending on how and who you call it, you can be gently joking or bullying.
