Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

or maybe just make a "statistics" page that updates itself like in the failed fail forumsBecause sifting through 520,000 posts and sorting them by woots (which need to be calculated for each post instead of simply looked up) is intensive. It takes up a whole 2 seconds to run all the queries. Barely even noticeable when I run it every few weeks. Still barely noticeable if it was only a few times a day for the curious people of the forums. However, making a slow page like that public would make it a huge target for anyone wanting to DoS attack us. It'd be basically a huge public "make server slow down" button.
i thought you were supposed to be a master h4x0r, there are like a bajillion ways you could do it other than running that whole thing each time

Yo diff
update list
like
don't even bother with some automatic system
it takes like 2 seconds to do it manually
and we only ask every like 2 weeks
just update list
there's been a bunch of wooted posts
like
not to the level of the custom tab
but
still
update list

Here I made this for you guys.
It's very much a work in progress, so more things will be added and bugs will be fixed. As it is, the stats update roughly once every 24 hours.

It now goes up to 1000. I mean the bottom one doesn't, because it's only based on the top list, but it could potentally go up to 1000 now.

Well you can't really get more vague than that.
You haven't told me what you're clicking or what "it" is.

I'm guessing, each time he hit "Show more" the page would scroll all the way back to the top
3d1t: some ajax would alleviate that, and save some bandwidth if someone kept clicking all the way up to 1000, instead of using some GET knowledge.

With my skill level in JavaScript I'd probably just go with hiding all 1000 results and having JavaScript gradually reveal them. Although learning new things is always great.

In this situation, that method is more efficient for dropping the subsequent request headers 'n stuff (I think)
At the same time, not everyone will want 1000. I guess it just depends on how many people use it, how important bandwidth is, what the color of the sky is, etc.

TIP:
This is a false statement.

TIP:
Change it to any number you like. It'll take any number but the max is 1000 because it only has 1000 to give you at most.
