Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

It'll probably be fine just as long as the admins aren't nearly as dumb as the ones on Runescape.
not saying admins are dumb.

I hope EE will be pure HTML5 in the future, as Flash will be dead. Since higher resolution displays are becoming more common, I can see that EE will use high resolution graphics, and so the graphics assets will be slowly vectorized.
Mustang and a few other older users in EE will slowly leave the site, and newer users will take their place if EE does not evolve to suit a more older audience. Mobile EE might be made, and can incorporate some newer features like Force Touch to enhance gameplay experience. Many many more blocks will be added, and larger and larger world sizes will be created to accommodate larger screen sizes.
Bitcoin might be accepted as a form of buying goods and services from EE. More moderators will join the team because the game will continue to grow, and there will be many many newer users.
As the Internet of Things develops, we will see physical devices interacting with the electronic world. If you frown in real life, for example, your smiley will frown too. Text to speech would be introduced as a feature incorporated into HTML5. Art-esque bots will be incorporated directly into the game, allowing you to use brush strokes and paint directly in the game on the minimap.

EE will be bought by a large gaming company but will keep the current staff.
Staff will be payed enough to work on the game so they can do it full time.
Content is created faster, new users are joining and staying.

I expect it to dissolve as the volunteers give up.
Hexagon mentions a few nice points, but quite a few don't really apply to EE's developers and stuff.
HTML5 seems likely enough; there's already been some porting.
Sure, users will leave. Users might come. Mobile EE is possible, playerIO has made the move there. gg. I guarantee the admins will add more blocks. That's the easiest upgrade to do. However, while larger worlds might appear, I'm not sure it'd be solely due to screen size. Shoot, "full screen" is crap anyway.
Bitcoin? Last I heard, superrewards doesn't work. But if it does, sure. Bitcoin seems a viable improvement. We've seen the admin team grow and shrink within a day, so I'm not sure how I feel about that point. Perhaps it will grow in a large scale and shrink in a large scale, but in the span of a day? (Of course, the necessity for a larger team comes from more users, but I don't necessarily see that being likely to happen.)
HTML5 facial recognition implemented into a game where the most edgy feature is fire/lava/spike deaths? Hmm. What if I grab a green hat and get a big grin? Am I new years?
"a whole costumisable action block that can do everything you want" that would be interesting. I'd be all for it -- like a block where you can specify the intensity of the vector given to a user who enters the space! Could replace boosts and gravity as we know it. or not. cuz reverse compatibility.
Creature: realistic. Pingohits: so true.
Less clunky UI. > Please
Double jumping. > Has to be an effect, lest you destroy the aforementioned "reverse compatibility"
Higher resolutions with more expanded views. > Just make full screen actually work
Official downloadable client. > I think that exists
Official local world saving/uploading and offline play. > a) bots b) defeats purpose as determined by the big "omg wat do with campaigns"
Shop overhaul + no more limited blocks. > yeah, that shop might be a bit overwhelming.
World specific leaderboards for time/least deaths/coins collected on completion. > Interesting.

Dammit Pingohits I had a really funny dystopian EE thing in my head but you beat me to it.
But actually, I think it'll be pretty much exactly the same as its always been. Just with mostly newer players.

What i think:
EE will move to html5
The items cost will decrease
there will be much more blocks and backgrounds
with these many blocks and bgs, the game will need a buttom that opens only your favourite blocks, because if it shows all you wil can't even see the player
more options (e.g. remove minimap from the world)
full screen fixed
global/private/crew chat in lobby
many campaigns
2 slots for saving your worlds
move blocks by pixels
customizable amout of gems on gem codes
a new tab on the lobby that shows cool world that have already finished this month
new UI
