Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I am thinking of creating a music world using the natural fall speed, and I was wondering how fast exactly do you go when falling? And I know it depends on how much lag you have, but if there was no lag, what would it be?
I did a test myself, and I found that it is around 85 blocks per second.
I recorded the sounds and calculated using the samples, that you travel 83.3543346774 (occurred once), or 89.1029094828 (occurred once), or 80.7495117188 (occurred twice), or 86.1328125 (occurred thrice) blocks per second, and on average 84.6221007282. This seems to vary a lot.
Anybody else already test this and got the same or a different answer?

This world probably will not work as you want it to because you'd need portals and, sorry to break it to ya, but portals have speed limits (which should be removed).

if you use a down boost right under the exit portal you may get around it, but you'd still have to calculate the time between the portal and the boost (since speed out of portal varies, I'd make it shoot you upwards so you are sure to get a speed of 0)

I don't think the speed limit for portals will make a massive difference (I honestly didn't even notice there was one), music worlds like this definitely do work.

I did not even notice... but even if there was one:
if you use a down boost right under the exit portal you may get around it.
And maybe a few up gravity's after the boost to get back to normal speed. Or what I could do is just use constant portals, keeping you at the max speed for portals. I do have 515 invisible portals, and 120 normal portals, and the maximum ID is 999 now, so there should be no problem.
I will soon test how fast you can go with and without portals, using samples of sound.

Someone made a topic about this a time ago with arrows. How much you fell and so on.
Maybe I can find it somewhere.
Edit: Found it, http://forums.everybodyedits.com/viewtopic.php?id=28233

Hmm, very interesting, not much about your actual speed though. But interesting.

After testing this, I found no slow down of portals.
