I have recently got Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio Online, I'm planning to make the full revamp of JoshBot, fit for EE 2.0, Note that there is NO release yet, so if you were looking for a bot, look at the title *cough* plans *cough*.

OS REQUIREMENTS SO PEOPLE CAN COMPLAIN EARLIER:
Windows 7+ with .NET framework 4.6+
A processor that isn't 16 bit
other complicated technical stuff that i dont even need to put here

y'know, let's make a button for every possible eventuality. let's add keys... and crowns... and commands... and boxes... even though that all is provided in EE anyway.

Guys, Ninja got a bit bad publicity in the beginning with his bombing and his type of advertisement.
Many people can't forget a first impression easily, so just get on with it.

Everybody has their own opinion and his differs from yours, unless you're going to actually DISCUSS whether it's bad or not, there's no point saying anything at all...

For the record, you basically got the equilibrant of my post. I truly don't consider NinjaBot to be anything special, nor do I think we need another bot that wastes time working on cliche unnecessary functions/uses.

I was just explaining why some people have a bad image about your bot. your bot does have some original functions.
I have never tried your bot myself, like all other bots not made by me, so I can't really say anything appart from that you made mistakes in the past, but that your bot isn't completely like all other bots.

I wasn't talking crap about your bot or anything.

Tomahawk just doesn't, like most of us who have already been through the nubbot phase, like bots that are nub.

Maybe if you actually make an original bot you wouldn't be disliked.

My guess is that he's referring to various exploits related to your bot's usage. Now, I haven't followed your changelog that closely, so I can't know for certain.

try-catches aren't that bad... At least they won't make your program get a fatality, but you can silently handle it. The way HOW you handle it is the harder part though.

We really should teach the ways of exceptions.
In your particular case, the cleaner way is int.TryParse(string, out int) -- this returns a bool.
I'm no expert, though.

100,000,000 iterations:
legit string, try/catch: 10.97s
legit string, int.tryparse: 11.37s
10,000 iterations:
illegit string, try/catch: 34.7s
illegit string, int.tryparse: 0.000986s

tested in debug mode, changed iterations because do you SEE THAT TIME?

If your data is unquestionably pristine and without flaw, then you're minutely better off without any error protection.
If you actually have reason to not trust user input validity, then int.Tryparse is a much more efficient test. However, if you get right down to it, each error in the try/catch only costs you a tiny 3.47 ms. At our measly scale of EE programming, you're probably not going to cry over that.
For those interested, more data and livelier discussion on stackoverflow. However, the argument made there is more concerning proper programming technique, which (concerning this audience) likely falls on deaf ears for those who haven't already heard.
