What gives you motivation/inspiration to create worlds?

Where do you get your motivation and inspiration for making worlds?

For me it's usually art or music, which helps me to create some sort of scenery in my mind.

Pretty much. I do get inspired by music here and there but a vast majority of what I start never gets finished due to lack of motivation or laziness.

Idk, a lot of things. Maybe art and music would have inspired me before, but now it's more like video games, films and books. My story-driven levels are definitely inspired from those things. I've thought of making some gameplay based on video games as well, but I don't think I have a level atm that actually does that.

Sometimes I watch a show or play a game and it inspires me to make a level.

Then I realize I suck at making levels and stop trying.

My inspiration for making levels is highly dependent of what thing I am mostly into. Like at one stage I really liked portal (I still do, but I'm not fixated or anything.) and I made a portal themed level, with it's own story but still themed around portals. Then after a few days I stopped my work on my portal themed level and cleared it to make a mario level. Then a minecraft level, then a code level, then a portal level again.

I am now working on a level about everybody edits. No theme besides ee. Well, that's the plan, as long as I don't clear it D:

I thought it'd be nice to get some examples too (instead of just books, games, music, art), so here's some stuff that has lately been giving me ideas:

-Ghibli movies and Hisaishi's music, especially these songs: Click, click and click!
-Other music (mostly soundtracks/instrumental): Click, click, click and click!
-Some art: Click, click and click!

I don't really have one. I start worlds in great worlds then feel obligated to finish them but I don't even know what to make so I stop and give up and buy more great worlds to try again.

For sure! whenever someone runs out of ideas, someone else picks up! The great part about having a bunch of friends who have partial ideas is that you don't have to compete for space. I just need a good mini maker now D:
