Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

gj that somehow didn't cross my mind

idk man there's pros and cons to every OS. xp is a weird smiley face, vista is vista, seven is... i don't know, I honestly can't think of any differences between vista and 7 except small visual ones. 8 is all touchscreeny and for like... either super cutting edge modern people or old fogies and 8.1 is literally the same but with mouse compatibility. also the windows 8 mode thing is dumb.
Either way we'll see what win10 is like in a few weeks.

I love how your reaction to something unexpected is "is that a censor". No, XP looks like an emoticon. A dead one.

Re: Windows 10

You can always bump a topic as long as your bump adds something to the topic (it can't be just "bump") and as long as the topic hasn't "expired" where no more discussion can really take place.

I'm planning to upgrade to 10 but first I need to buy a new computer. And a new OS, because the most recent Microsoft OS I have is XP.

I've "reserved my copy" of the update so I'll see what people are saying when they upgrade.
Plus, I only just got this laptop with Windows 8 last Christmas so

Re: Windows 10

While some of that stuff is concerning, Zelda, some of it has become the new standard (or rather, was the old standard but was not explicitly stated).

Like the section where it says that Microsoft will access information in your emails if directed to do so from law enforcement or to protect the rights of the Microsoft company, etc. is a phrase you hear in almost every privacy policy these days unless the company touts itself as the golden standard of privacy protection.

As for Microsoft 10, I will probably wait until I get a new laptop to get it, which should be soon, actually.

Re: Windows 10

I'm not too keen on forced automatic updates, because I tend to run really low on disk space and I don't ever use Windows Media Player. If this is the last version of windows, that'd be great because then I wouldn't have to buy anymore version to receive security updates.

However, it doesn't work in VBox yet (something about the display driver not being compatible) so hopefully they fix that before July 29th.

Re: Windows 10

Is it worth it upgrading to W10 at launch day though? I'll wait until people post reviews or whine about it on social media and end up upgrading anyway. Getting a bit tired of Windows 7's fake glass design. Gotta check if my hardware is compatible though //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/sad

Re: Windows 10

Screw "waiting until it's safe", I just can't resist the urge and I'm already downloading W10. Already dropped everything I actually need on Dropbox because I'll do a clean install.

Same. You can manually install it here though.

I CAN'T HANDLE THIS
the font is weird and it kind of feels like my monitor is tilted even though it hasn't changed at all and i just
it changed the resolution on me to like 680xsomething and that was a bad time
i miss the start screen but
i guess i can handle this
in a while
basically it's as sharp as it was on vista which i don't like ughhhh

Re: Windows 10

When you're done with installing you'll probably be surprised by the modern tiles BS (example i found on the internet, look at how fugly it is) and think "oh well, i'm going back to W7 anyway". Well changing some settings mine looks like this, which is closer to the true and only Windows design.

Once you change it up, you'll be good depending on whether or not you prefer the lists or the tiles. it's like a hybrid thing.

I'm absolutely loving that change. The taskbar icons in Windows 7 looked ugly as hell and I never noticed it, but in 10 they're smooth and pleasant to look at. That Windows 7 Chrome icon in particular, ugh...

I reserved my W10 logo since they came out for free upgrade. I still don't see new notification or showing new update in Windows Update. I guess I'll get patience for tomorrow, couple of days, or a week.

This is the pic after I clicked windows 10 logo thing like you said. I can see why the "waves" of W10 all over the world is taking a while.
