Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Using some complex formula stuff, I've been able to compute the possible number of unique levels you can create in a world. The formula used, which I figured out in about 2 proud hours of thinking of it is x to the y power, where x= the number of spaces on the map and y= the number of blocks (543 I think, correct me if I'm wrong). This equation follows the following rules:
-You my have blank spots in the world
-You don't have to have all the blocks in the game in the world
-The border doesn't have to be changed in anyway, and is not factored in
-You may have any amount of a block
The thing is, the smallest world you can get on Everybody Edits (25x25) has an area of 625 units. So, 543 to the 625th power is obviously going to be a large number... In fact:
Yup, that's right. The number of possible levels you could create on a 25x25 world is so large, it's easiest just to say it is infinity.
(Yes I know that most of the world wouldn't be playable and stuff but shush- still cool)
So, I conclude by saying that EE is a game that truly lets you use your infinite creativity.
EDIT: 550 not 543, Sorry I forgot diamond block and the halloween pack (the ones I don't have).
EDIT 2: When I first said it I switched it around sorry, it's y to the x power.

O someone needs to make a bot now which takes a 25 x 25 world and randomly generates blocks in it. Make the spawn rate of coins and action blocks slightly higher than the other blocks. The goal will be to get crowns, coins, etc. make it like 5-10 seconds before the block changes on each tile. This would be fun.

I'd like to see this. It'd be chaotic, and great.

There is an error in the "formula".
The smallest world is 25x25, but you can not place any bricks in the 625 quadrates of the world. You can only place everything you want in the 23x23 space, because the other part of the world is made of basic bricks, coloured bricks or black spceial brick.
My nickname in-game is Supermariobros20. I have played EE for 4 years! I love creating Super Mario worlds!

I'm saddened to inform you that this number is (apparently) not infinity.
The total number of combinations is (if you ignore coindoor coins, portal combinations, and border limits, limited blocks only some people have) is approximately
2.9092695 * 10 ^ 171510
Which is certainly not even close to infinity.
If you want to see the full number and calculation: http://pastebin.com/b9DVtCba
I have never thought of programming for reputation and honor. What I have in my heart must come out. That is the reason why I code.

I've tried this before. I don't think it would be as cool as you think. Even if you tweaked it to death in order to get a playable level, the result might be fun for a couple rounds, but it would soon become monotonous. You would need to keep adding gimmicks like teleportation and powerups to keep people amused, and by that point you have a different game.
As for the OP, that's kind of the point of a sandbox game. #BuzzKillington

Ah, you're right, though the number would still be a great one.

x to the y power, where x= the number of spaces on the map and y= the number of blocks
I think you said this backwards. x should be the number of blocks and y should be the number of spaces. However, when you used the calculator, you typed it in the correct order the way it should be, and not by how you said it.

Yeah, you're right, let me switch that real quick...

I think Processor got it right by taking into account that each space can have a foreground block and a background block, yielding many more possibilities per space on the map, which also means even more possible levels. I think I will try to derive a formula that takes more into account though, like the border. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are some blocks that can only be placed one time per map. I think the win brick is one of them. If someone could give me a complete list of these kinds of blocks, that would be very appreciated. And things get even crazier if I try to take into account all the possible text that could be written on a text sign or on the admin text label. I know that the text sign has a 140 character limit. Not sure which characters are allowed though. And I have no idea how many characters are allowed on a admin text label. If anyone knows, please fill me in.
EDIT: Oh and also that portals could be assigned different ID's and target ID's and many blocks can be rotated different ways, etc. So many things to factor in!

I admit to all my formula was basic, and didn't account for quite a few factors- but these factors would just add more combinations, so the point still stands.

If you tried all those combinations, 99% of the creations would still be more fun than most levels in the lobby these days

I made a bot that generates random bricks (well its kinda of added to my bot R42Bot++)
