Fake moderators

I'm bored so I'm going to do something to make this forum a better place. I'm making myself a moderator; a fake moderator. I'm going to do everything a moderator would do (without actually doing it). I'll give out "warnings", "sticky" topics, and "lock" other topics. This isn't against the rules and I don't care if it makes people angry because everybody hates me here already. Feel free to join me as a fake moderator.

That quote expresses how I feel about being a Fake Moderator. I'm not being a fake moderator so that I can be an annoying "mini-Moderator". I believe that if I get banned trying to make the forum a better place then the "mini-Moderator" law is unjust. I'm doing what my conscience tells me is right, and if you can accept that I'm being a Fake Moderator to help the forum, then maybe we'll work together to make the forum better that it ever would have been if we worked separately.

You may believe that you are making the forum a better place, but you really aren't. Fake moderating and mini-modding are the same thing, as already stated. These kinds of posts count as spam, as they in no way contribute to the thread. You currently do not hold any power over other forumers, therefore all of your posts that involve minimodding are just boxes of text that are relatively useless. Just report the post and get on with it.

Actually, by being a 'fake moderator', all you're doing is interfering with the actual moderator's jobs, as you can not issue warnings. Therefore, your posts would have no purpose and be considered spam. If you want to help, report the posts. Otherwise, don't do anything.

How exactly would that be interfering? His posts have purpose purely from him trying to help moderate, so them being spam isn't quite true either. Although, being without purpose isn't the sole requirement for spam anyway, is it?

Dear Epicstoneman: If you were a fake moderator it would ultimately give the real moderators no purpose. So instead of going around pretending to be a moderator you should judt be a good community member. And not saying you do this in particular, but instead of calling topics dumb or useless you should just explain why you think it is useless and try to make it so people don't create lockable topics in the first place. So instead of mini-modding just be a good community member who helps others, but does not perform the jobs of the moderators. Because the moderators are moderators for a reason. And if everyone did their job for them they would be out of a job.

If you start acting like a mod all you're going to do is spam topics, cause confusion, and create animosity. We have the report system for a reason. Have you read this yet?

And no, it's not part of the written rules (which haven't been updated in forever, and desperately need revision), but mini-modding is highly frowned upon and is punishable with warnings if you get zealous enough about it. So if you want to stick around, don't play mod.

If you are saying that you are planning to habitually disobey the mods' instructions, we can just skip over your next five warnings and permaban you now, saving everyone a bunch of bargain bin e-drama. Is this what you want?

So when are the rules gonna be updated?

Cause newcomers see those rules first and you can't really blame them if they only read some of the rules and not the other spread out topics

@epicstonemason Did you read the thread that I linked in an earler post? I've updated the part on why users shouldn't say "you broke the rules".

When non-mods start calling out broken rules, they can create confusion. Only mods officially decide if a rule has been broken. The reason mods exist is because forum rules are subjective by nature. Mods sometimes look at a reported post and think to themselves, "I can see how [reporter] thinks that [rule x] was broken, but this is actually an acceptable post.", and then they take no action. Please leave post evaluation to the mods.

There are many logical and rational reasons why the report system is preferred over mini-modding. I'm willing to hear out any counterarguments you have, but your proposed course of "civil disobedience" is hardly rational at this time.
