I think I might get a nightmare

I just saw the most brutal thing on my entire life. Wilcox just posted some disgusting pictures and I was shocked when I saw it. Until now, I am shaking from fear and I am really scared of it. I think it is really stuck in my mind. I am afraid to tell my mom because she will ban me to use the computer if she knew that I saw some disgusting photos. Help me.......What can I do? I am really scared.....

When I was ten I clicked a "lol click here" link and my computer was filled with inappropriate content. I ended up not telling my parents.

The most effective method for not thinking about it was to imagine the image in my head then imagine myself with scissors, cutting it up and putting it in the trashcan. If it came back I didnt judge myself for thinking of it again (I mean if you say pink elephant its hard to not think about a pink elephant! Especially if you just saw an image of it) but instead "cut it up" and there it away again. It eventually was forgotten by me.

We will all see some pretty bad things in life, remember that you are okay, these memories cannot hurt you, and that life goes on.

Then just imagine yourself ripping it up. Or anything that feels safe for you. Perhaps painting over it, or spraying it with silly glue.

Just imagine you having power over the image. Remember it cant do anything to you.

On a side note, if you want to tell your mom, just say you went to a web search and didnt know the safe search was off and misspelt "goats" as "goatse" (which is what the image was that you saw)

Bee's advice is accurate.   The method I currently use is to imagine the image getting darker and shrinking, then moving to a place far in the distance.   There are many methods for eliminating unpleasant imagery, it comes down to finding what works for you.

Well then imagine a black box, that is your fear.
Torture the black box however you want!
Try using things you like, I like EE so I'd get a stampede of smileys to run over the box.

Instead of thinkng of a nightmare, think of a loverly place, if your christian: heaven, if your not: a trpical beach with a giant garden with all your favorite fruits. just play around in it with your eyes closed

and i know how you feel, i watch saw like...3 when i was younger. and i still get freaked out by jig-saws face.

Haha, thats interesting Cola. Personally that wouldnt work for me, but as MIHB said, to each his own. It really depends on what works for you. Its good to have practice with something like an image on the internet first because you know you are safe in your home and if worst comes to worst, you have your family to go to.

NO! get off the computer! the way you saw it is not what you should do if that makes sense, now what i do is watch tv for 2/3 hours, you may even get interested in what your watching and keep it on longer
