Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

The bigger the game the longer the wait.

I like and play TF2 ,actually i am an achievement man,I play games if it have achievements
It took 3 hours from me,(My connection isnt bad, almost good) but 36? Are you sure? Are you really kidding me? ...
And I like Steam too.I bought TF2 , Spiral knights, Magicka, Blocks that matter, Deus Ex: HR, Rock Of Ages,Super Meat Boy and Terraria there :DDDD but really.
Took me about four or five hours to download TF2. So far I really like it, and I've been able to play well with just a trackpad. I love how all the classes are so different from each other (especially Spy).

Same here man. Wanna play some?
I wanted a Steam but I deciding not to until I got a better Internet connection, besides it would probably say 14days until download completes because my download speeds are 2-4KB/Sec.
I'm in love with a dragon <3

I heard that TF2 is free now...
The only reason why I don't play it is because I REALLY suck at first-person shooters.

TF2 is certainly not in the same league as Counter-Strike, just do it and see what happens. Even if you're the worst player ever, maybe you can practice and get better rather than quitting.

I've experienced worse. Far worse.

Why would you install a DRM for playing ? Why would you install something that slows down your computer ?
I still don't get why people use steam. I mean, don't you ever play lan games with your friends ? With steam, they all need to have a copy of the game. So, for a 2day lan party, you'll have to pay ( with 10 friends ) minimum $600. To play ONE game ! Considering that there are thousands of game each years, that is quite expensive, don't you think ?
What about your dad / bro / sis who can't play the game you bought - for familial use "only" ? If they want to play, you'll have to share your account - and we all know now what happen when you share any account ( "Hacks" and stuff, you don't know what they'll do with it, and where they'll use their accounts. ).
I really don't understand why people use steam..
Anyway, I enjoy my cracked version of steam games. Being able to play something without any compagny recording everything I'm doing is quite nice too. And no, I'm not going to give any money for a DRM bullsh*t.

Why would you install a DRM for playing ?
Because it's required to play a legal copy of the game, probably.
Why would you install something that slows down your computer ?
Everything you install is going to slow down your computer, including the game itself. But you don't get to pretend that the slowdown is of any significance.
I still don't get why people use steam.
Very quick worldwide access to all your games without any physical requirement, such as carrying the discs with you.

You mean, if you want to gather 10 friends to all play the same game at the same time, you need 10 copies of it? Madness. Should everyone in the world get to share a copy because it's only ONE game? Or should they all pay, because there's a million instances of one game.
What about your dad / bro / sis who can't play the game you bought - for familial use "only" ?
Chances are good that you didn't buy it for "familial use" at all. You bought the rights to use one copy of their game. Although, there's nothing to stop your familial member from just using the PC you installed it on.
If they want to play, you'll have to share your account - and we all know now what happen when you share any account ( "Hacks" and stuff, you don't know what they'll do with it, and where they'll use their accounts. ).
Read above. You aren't required to literally share your account at all. As for somehow knowing that they'll use hacks and stuff, that's not true either, is it.
I really don't understand why people use steam..
Already stated.
Anyway, I enjoy my cracked version of steam games.
That's great, but you'd likely enjoy the legal copy just as much, if not more if your pirate copy has issues running.
Being able to play something without any compagny recording everything I'm doing is quite nice too.
What? Steam doesn't record everything you're doing. Why would they or anyone else care what the hell YOU are doing?
And no, I'm not going to give any money for a DRM bullsh*t.
Steam is free, the game costs money whether it comes with DRM or not.

RavaTroll wrote:Why would you install a DRM for playing ?

No. It's not a game feature. You could play most of steam games without needing steam. It's not like it's a package for the coding or necessary for the graphics / gameplay. It's just added. Therefore, it has nothing to do with the game. It's just a way to have all your game in the same "place" if you need it, the only thing usefull on steam. Steam should be used only by Valve anyway. ( Like Battle.net, which is used only by Blizzard. )
RavaTroll wrote:Why would you install something that slows down your computer ?

Yeah, but since it's not needed by the game for the gameplay / graphics, I shouldn't have to launch it to play my games. It's just an added restriction.
RavaTroll wrote:I still don't get why people use steam.

I agree, it's the only thing good, but this wont make me buy any steam game.
Also, I want to give my money to the devs, not to Valve. It's the same with music and major industry, I don't care about giving money to EMI / Warner / Universal && co. I want to give money to the artist. That's all.

Well, back in the 90's, I remember we could all play one game with one frackin' CD. It was just amazing, easy and funny. Now, with steam / origin and co, eveyrone has to owe the game. What about casual gamers ? What about discovering games in lan parties ? What about people too poor to have all the games their friends have ?

Yeah, but the game works with your account. And sharing an account is stupid. Just read people complains about "hacking" and "stealing accounts" problem on any MMO forum. Also, My father and I play games, and I'm pretty sure that if I had a bro / a sis', he/she would play too.
Well, looks like I've got to pay 140? - remember that for game compagnies, 1? == $1 - just to play with my father ? I used to play games with him, and the only games we still play are old and without DRMs.

Yeah, no, my dad can't play the DoW2 I used on my steam account. Nice waste of 60 ?. I'm glad I can afford it. What if I was poor and this was a present ? My dad would have to wait for me to play it ?

Yes, sure, but still, as I don't want to support Valve, it's the only way I have. I'd like to have "steam-free" versions of some game, tbh.
RavaTroll wrote:Being able to play something without any compagny recording everything I'm doing is quite nice too.

Don't you think Valve don't record when you update a game / install a game / use a game on their DB ? Information today is easy money, and I'm pretty sure they record some stuff on you. And I don't them to know what I do when I'm at home, this doesn't concern them. The state, yes perhaps, but not compagnies.

Sure it's a restriction, but it's one that they've deemed necessary and probably is if they want to try and protect their profit margin.
I agree, it's the only thing good, but this wont make me buy any steam game.

Valve takes their cut, for sure, but you still give money to the developers. Especially if those developers happen to be Valve themselves. Consider that without Valve, perhaps even greater profits would be lost through paying for discs to be made and distributed.
Sure, I think the original StarCraft is an example of that, but just because you're given a nice feature doesn't make it the standard. Casual and poor gamers can play what they've bought or try someone elses if allowed. I don't think many people are entitled to what they haven't earned.
Yeah, but the game works with your account. And sharing an account is stupid. Just read people complains about "hacking" and "stealing accounts" problem on any MMO forum. Also, My father and I play games, and I'm pretty sure that if I had a bro / a sis', he/she would play too.

You're able to share a game without sharing an account or any other details by simply being in the same room as eachother. Also, YOU haven't got to pay 140? at all, you each have to pay the price of the game yourselves. As for £1 = ?1, that's got little to do with Steam.
Yeah, no, my dad can't play the DoW2 I used on my steam account. Nice waste of 60 ?. I'm glad I can afford it. What if I was poor and this was a present ? My dad would have to wait for me to play it ?
What? You mean your Dad can't walk over to the PC and play the game? Strange.
Yes, sure, but still, as I don't want to support Valve, it's the only way I have. I'd like to have "steam-free" versions of some game, tbh.
Steam free versions of games would be nice, sure, but that's not reason to dislike Steam by itself. By buying through Steam, you do support Valve, but you also obviously support the developer. If they made considerably less money by using steam than by not, I doubt they'd really do it.
Don't you think Valve don't record when you update a game / install a game / use a game on their DB ? Information today is easy money, and I'm pretty sure they record some stuff on you. Maybe they do record those things, but that's not totally important. You were being sensationalist when you said they record everything you do, which isn't true.
Why are you trolling now ? Everything in your post was just fine, and now, you just are insulting me. Nice.
I've little idea what trolling is, nor do I particularly care. I often like to add little snarky comments to the end of things.
Also, what about people - like me - who buys game on a "car boots sale" ( well, I don't know the exact english translation. ) ?
I can't sell / buy to anyone old games with steam, nice.
Your translation is fine. That's a consequence of having to register games to an account, not steam in particular. Battle.net games would have the same problem I suspect.
Oh, what if there were a "steam" system with books ? You can't give your book, you can't sell it once you've finished him, you can't even allow anyone but you to read. What is the point ?
Ignoring the fact that I could sell my steam account if I really wanted to, and that I can let people come play on my PC whenever I like, that'd probably suck. But the point is still that I buy things for me, not for their resale potential.
Anyway, thanks for answering me, last time I told what I thought to steam-users, nobody replied. ²

Boo for quotes.
FYI, I'm not a total fan of Steam myself. I don't like not being able to resell easily, or having so much money tied into one service, along with other small things. Too late, we started.
I didn't say any of that. I said steam is required to play a legal copy of the game.
I guess my bad english can be blamed for that misunderstanding.
But yeah, you're right.
Sure it's a restriction, but it's one that they've deemed necessary and probably is if they want to try and protect their profit margin.
Yeah, I guess that's the main reason video games producers uses steam.
Valve takes their cut, for sure, but you still give money to the developers. Especially if those developers happen to be Valve themselves. Consider that without Valve, perhaps even greater profits would be lost through paying for discs to be made and distributed.
Steam has many users, I agree it helps promoting the game and making profit, but I don't think it would change a lot without steam.
Sure, I think the original StarCraft is an example of that, but just because you're given a nice feature doesn't make it the standard. Casual and poor gamers can play what they've bought or try someone elses if allowed. I don't think many people are entitled to what they haven't earned.
It'd be a lot simpler without it for me.
You're able to share a game without sharing an account or any other details by simply being in the same room as eachother. Also, YOU haven't got to pay 140? at all, you each have to pay the price of the game yourselves. As for £1 = ?1, that's got little to do with Steam.
The $1 = ?1 ( and = 1£ perhaps, I don't know how it is in the UK ) was mostly about the usual prices of games, that are often sold at the same "price". Anyway, it'd be easier if I shouldn't have to be in the same room to allow someone playing the game.
What? You mean your Dad can't walk over to the PC and play the game? Strange.
Well, since I'm studying IT, and I'm a gamer, I'm usually using my computer when he's home, so he wont be able to play when he wants.
Steam free versions of games would be nice, sure, but that's not reason to dislike Steam by itself. By buying through Steam, you do support Valve, but you also obviously support the developer. If they made considerably less money by using steam than by not, I doubt they'd really do it.
Agreed. That's too bad it's in Valve's hands actually. I'd like to see an open-source project about an anonymous "steam" which allows to use a game on several accounts but allowing only one CD-KEY to play with different CD-KEYs. So players can enjoy lans and play with their friends, even share the game with them, and if one of them want to play with other CD-KEYs, he wont be able to because only the first "CD-KEY" user will be able to do so. I don't know if you see what I mean. There's a lot of thinking to do about it though. I think there's a linux "steam" that is open-source, but I don't know a lot about it, and I don't even know if there are .exe for windows.
Maybe they do record those things, but that's not totally important. You were being sensationalist when you said they record everything you do, which isn't true.
Well, when I said "everything", I meant everything I do with the games on my account. I should have detailed that.
I've little idea what trolling is, nor do I particularly care. I often like to add little snarky comments to the end of things.
I don't know if it's good for arguing to do so. Using ad hominem arguments at the end somehow show a lack of arguments, so it may not help you.
Now, I'm not an expert in communication. ²
Your translation is fine. That's a consequence of having to register games to an account, not steam in particular. Battle.net games would have the same problem I suspect.
Yeah, that's why I don't play Starcraft II anymore and wont play Diablo III. I don't even think I'll buy Diablo III. I don't consider them as MMO too.
Ignoring the fact that I could sell my steam account if I really wanted to, and that I can let people come play on my PC whenever I like, that'd probably suck. But the point is still that I buy things for me, not for their resale potential.
I wasn't aware it was "allowed" to sell accounts. If it is, it's not *that* bad then. I'd still prefer buying one game than an account.
And yeah, I don't buy games for their resale potential too, but I don't buy "new games", so I can't buy any steam game. ( And I'm 2 years late with gaming )
FYI, I'm not a total fan of Steam myself. I don't like not being able to resell easily, or having so much money tied into one service, along with other small things. More trying to provoke a reply/be a **** than saying it to try discredit your arguments.

I don't think you'll find much argument potential here. Your English is fine though, I wouldn't have guessed you weren't a native speaker. If only we could go to some magical place and argue all day.
...what? You should play with me! What league and race were you?
Well, never really played starcraft II. I played the campaign, twice, but the online thing was way too "mmo" for me. And I prefer MMO-RPGs than MMO-RTS && MOBA. But if I had to try, I'do go with 'toss, ot maybe terrans.
Valve won't like it very much I'm sure, but what Valve doesn't know won't hurt them.
Yeah, people sell battle.net accounts too, but I don't think it's a good idea, 'cause if somehow they discover that sell, I don't think they'll leave the account open.
