What if the world had another intelligent species?

Humans are the most intelligent species, they are the only one able to build big things and communicate easily, but what if the world had another species able to do these things? Consider they reached 1 billion in world population.

There will have even more big wars, confusion and bullying, unless peoples and that species deal with it.

What do you think? How would you interact with this species?

anyways if there was another species as intelligent as us then there would be a lot of variables so you would have to specify what it is before i say something. but we would probably go to war with it

If humanity was matched with another specie, society would generally accept this specie (as long as they are literate and can interact with humans). However since the human population is about 8 billion and this new specie is 1 billion, this would mean the population of this new species could be outcasts and isolated. This could lead to wars and arguments over oppression or perhaps humanitarian causes (being treated differently). Having the consequences such as war would depend on the species (how irate they could become, what is their temper like and do they have good moral values). These would be things we would have to take into account to see if we can allow this species to have high positions (such as a EU position) without undermining them.

I think the question is what would we have done in prehistoric times? (What kept us from eating each other as humans?)

I'd have to agree. On many scales, we'd probably kill each other over food, war, or just for differences.

Our battles (starting back in primitive times) would either be short squabbles where people lined up to die... or our intelligence would flourish faster than if the other intelligent species didn't exist. (We'd have motivation sooner)

We don't necessarily even have to communicate. The problem would be clear: Neither species would want to share.
