Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

This would be overused a lot. It is a good idea, but think about it.
"I want ____ to be a mod!" <-- why? he's my friend
The admins and mods would look over the application and delete any nominations without good reasoning.
if a girl does not have yuri then she is lost
but that same girl can be lost in the yuri

Perhaps a select few of people can be in a Voting Committee, and they vote for actions on the forums and mod selection (The older and wiser members)
You'll be left with the same problem: who are those people? Will we need voting for that?
No u.

No, the admins can choose the people for the voting committee, just as how RPGMaster chose judges for the contest.

The members will sooner on later be smarter, they will just put a fake reason isnted of saying "HE IS MY FRIEND MAKE HIM A MOD NAO!"

Hmmm. I seriously doubt that most 8-9 year old kids will get smarter and make serious votes any time soon.
If the forum ever does become a democracy with an 'election council' to keep track of legit votes, I'm guessing that about 98% of all the votes will be rubbish.

But yeah, we already made the mistake of selecting mods by the people, let's not do that again. It should be decided by admins, and suggested by mods.

When did this happen?

When you became a moderator.
Failgirl101 wrote:All I am saying is if people are going to complain about the moderators that admins pick then why not have the people pick their admins. The forum is run by the people for the people and therefore I think some decisions should also involve community involvement.
You're implying it is run by the people, but it's not. Most people on here are kids. It wouldn't be a true democracy, it would be a popularity contest.
I wish I could change your title to kill joy sooooooooo bad.

Maybe, say, the users with the top twenty to twenty-five post counts? They seem smart, except for 32OrtonEdge32dh. That guy's a [censored so you don't puke] kangaroo [also censored] Port-a-potty [censored] raspberries [censored] smokin' with Jesus [SENSHURED] Dr. Phil, amirite?

Honestly voting is about popularity. That's the point really. See a democracy can work if you organize right.
First off you should ask who wants to be a moderator. Then set limitations such as, you must have so much forum seniority, you must be reccomended by one current mod, and so on.
Then, all those eligible should be pooled into a primary vote where users vote for their top two favorites. Then each candidate should have to make a speech on why they should be a moderator. Finally there should be a final vote to choose which one to be moderator.
**In the case we need 2 moderators than there should be 4 elected from the primary, and then 2 winners in the end**
This is just based off the U.S. government. Democracies are all about popularity, but that doesn't make it all bad. In fact it could work well if you do it right so I don't see why the forums can't be more democratic.

Lol @ speech. Other than that, nice idea. But of course, there will be rage-threads by noobs spazzing about why they or a friend aren't candidates followed by an very badly made argument saying something like "Z0MG Y i N0 CANYDAIT IN VOTE IM NICE GUY LEMME MOD".

Those who whine get no attention.
Those who lash out my spamming and raiding get banned.
Useless topics would be locked.
I mean isn't that the point of recruiting more moderators?
There would be 3 steps to becoming a mod.
1. Nomination from another forumer member that is not yourself
if you get nominated you must be...
2. Recommended by a current mod
then if you get that far...
3. There will be one final vote by both the whole of the community and the current moderators/admins
And that is how you would become a moderator.
While this is a good system, it turns into as popularity contest. It's not the fault of the system, it's the fault of the population. That's exactly what happened with the latest student council elections at my school.
And yes, I have read the rest of the thread.

But I believe that is what a democracy is about. Now I know the forums will never be a complete democracy, but I do think since it is made by the fans that it should be a forum for the fans.
The only way it would work though is with both user and administrative cooperation. Of course the users would get their fair share of nominations, but the final judgement should always be made by an admin. Which I'm sure is what would happen anyway. Because then it would be way that supports both community and administrative wants. The forumers get a say in who is running their forum, and the mods get some extra help. All I see is a win-win.

When did this happen?
When you became a moderator.
People didn't select the mods though. The admins picked the mods. The people just brought up other people in front of the mods.

1) Adding Chewy wasn't a mistake at all
2) Had we not even brought up the possibility of becoming a moderator, WOULD you have been? I don't think so.
Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

I'm going to have to disagree. Seeing the same people reporting posts all the time would eventually make someone remember my name. *wink wink*

Post count ? anything.

THIS. This so much. You could have ten thousand posts and 90% of them could be in forum games, that doesn't mean you'd be a good moderator.
@Takoman02: If you look closely, you can usually get about 1-3 reports a day with misplaced threads and whatnot.
You can also get about 13 reports if there's a raid going on and you're laughing to hard to tell a mod and you want to recite some poetry. -cough-
