Mafia 38 - The Twelve Days of Christmas Signup [Accepting Backups]

Alright people. This is my first time hosting here, so I'm sorry for any descrepancies and whatnot. Some of the roles are copied but altered in a sense. And you'll see what that means in the setup.

So the gist of this is that there are going to be 13 players. It's equivalent to Luka's in the fact that it's a semi-open, to a certain degree.

Plurality lynch will take effect, but Overtime will not. This game will slightly be motivated towards a sense of a story, which will be notated throughout the morning announcements and whatnot.

▼Roles

Town

Caroler - Special (Townie)

You are aligned with Town.
You are a simple villager that was blessed by the presence of Santa Claus. You want to be invited onto Santa Claus' crusade to bring back Christmas to this damned town. To help the mission, you go caroling during the night in order to help aide the mission.
Action: You may sing at a player's home. If three Caroler's sing at a player's home, the target's action will be buffed for that night only. (Some exclusions apply).
Upgrade: You will be gifted a random town role.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Innocent Child - Special

You are aligned with Town.
You are a simple villager that was blessed by the presence of Santa Claus. Everyone knows your heart is pure as gold. To help the mission, you go caroling during the night in order to help aide the mission.
You cannot be killed by Krampus.
Action: You will be modconfirmed as the Innocent Child on Day 1. You may sing at a player's home. If three Caroler's sing at a player's home, the target's action will be buffed for that night only. (Some exclusions apply).
Upgrade: You will be gifted a random town role. You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Although The Innocent Child is labelled as Special, it can fill one of the Town Random slots. It's labelled as Special because a Caroler cannot be upgraded to an Innocent Child.

Santa Claus - TS (Santa Claus/Mason)

You are aligned with Town.
You are Santa Claus, the holly jolly spirit of Christmas itself. You came to this accursed town in hopes of rejuvinating the lost Christmas spirit that once existed. During the night, you go around, gifting presents to the town in hopes of lifting the holiday spirit. Go forth, and save Christmas!
You have conversion immunity.
Any gifts to the Innocent Child, Mrs. Claus, Blixen, Scrooge, Lunatic, or Elflings will fail.
You may only gift to each player once.
Action: You may gift a player a role each night. If the targetted player already has a role, their role will be permanently buffed. You share a PT with Mrs. Claus here.
Upgrade: You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Mrs. Claus - TS (Santa Claus Backup/Mason)

You are aligned with Town.
You rode into town with Santa Claus in order to rejuvinate the Christmas spirit in this damned town. Though others rode in with your brigade, you and Santa Claus seem to have forgotten who they were, as they all continued to blend in with the town. Despite it all, you and Santa Claus kept a connection in order to band together to rejoice the season.
You have conversion immunity.
Action: You will take on the role of Santa Claus upon his death. You share a PT with Santa Claus here.
Upgrade: You take on the role of Santa Claus. You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Rudolph - TS (One-shot Retributionist) (Unique)

You are aligned with Town.
You are one of Santa's most trusted Reindeer. You were brought into the town to rescue the spirit's of those damned by the evil spirits of this Town. You were brought in order to bring back the spirit of Christmas to this accursed town, although, in the midst of the situation, you seem to have lost track of Santa Claus. Take back the spirit, and rejoice the season.
Action: You may rescue a graveyard player.
Upgrade: You will be allotted a second revive.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Blixen - TS (Vampire Hunter/Doctor) (Unique)

You are aligned with Town.
You are among those who rode into the town with Santa Claus. You know of the Rogue Elf's true intentions in coming to this Town, and you're here to put a stop to it. Each night you check players to see if they've turned to the Rogue Elf's tables. If they have, you turn them back to their original role. There's just one little problem: with the amount of time you have to pull off such a feat, you can only check each player once.
You have conversion immunity.
Action: You may check a player at night. If they are aligned with the Rogue Faction, you will return them to their original role.
Upgrade: You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Elf - TI (Faction Cop)

You are aligned with Town.
You are one of Santa's devoted workers. You spend day and night working to find out who is Naughty and Nice for Santa Claus. There's only one problem: You seem to have lost Santa Claus in the midst of the situation. Regardless, you kept on, and looked towards those you saw as Naughty or Nice.
Action: You may investigate a player each night. You will be told if they are Naughty or Nice. Neutrals will appear as Nice.
Upgrade: Your investigations will bypass Framings.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Frosty the Snowman - TK (Vigilante)

You are aligned with Town.
You are part of Santa Claus' gang. You rode into town with the Holly Jolly Man himself in order to bring back the spirit of Christmas to this cursed Town. You have been entrusted by Santa Claus to use your extraordinary ability of the tundra to take down the evil spirits of Christmas that beckon among this town.
Action: You may freeze a player. They will die of hypothermia in the morning. You may only shoot twice.
Upgrade: You will roleblock your target as well.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Angel - TP (Rolestopper)

You are aligned with Town.
You are a descendant from the Heavens themselves. You were called upon by Santa Claus himself in order to save the spirit of Christmas that has long since been lost in this town. You spend your nights protecting the citizens of this town in hopes of halting the evildoings of the Scrooges of this town.
Action: You may protect a player. All actions against them will be blocked. You may selfprotect once.
Upgrade: Alongside protecting your target, you will randomly protect one of your target's visitors as well.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Town are eliminated. (Mafia + Krampus).

Mafia

Stickler - Special (Goon)

You are aligned with Mafia.
You may talk with your Mafia Partners in the PT here.
You hate Christmas. Santa Claus has come into town, and you and your gang have vowed to take down the Holly Jolly spirit of Christmas. You spend your nights killing people that cherish the feeling of Holiday Spirit, because you yourself cannot feel it, in hopes of destroying the Holiday spirit that others feel.
Action: You may kill a player at night.
Upgrade: You will be gifted a random Mafia role.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Mafia are eliminated (Krampus), and Mafia controls the Majority of the population.

Devil Child - MS (Godfather)

You are aligned with Mafia.
You may talk with your Mafia Partners in the PT here.
Your heart is as pure as Gold. Well, that's how the town sees you. In reality, your heart withered long ago. You hate Christmas, and all that it stands for. But to the expectations of the town, everyone sees you as a child that can do no harm. Despite that, you spend your nights taking the lives of those who cherish the Holiday Spirit that you lost long ago. Take your revenge on Christmas..
You have detection and nightkill immunity.
Action: You may kill a player at night.
Upgrade: Alongside your detection immunity, you will be gifted a random mafia role.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Mafia are eliminated (Krampus), and Mafia controls the Majority of the population.

Scrooge - MS (One-shot Converter) (Unique)

You are aligned with Mafia.
You may talk with your Mafia Partners in the PT here.
Christmas has long eluded you. You don't understand the meaning of the Holiday Spirit that the rest of the town shares. Eventually, the joyous behavior of the rest of the Town got to you, and you began to hate Christmas. Their joy in the season only mocked your inability of that Holiday Spirit. To this end, you spread your Holiday-Mischeer to others in order to turn them to the same level of hatred you feel.
Action: You may convert a player to Mafia. They will become a Stickler by default.
Upgrade: You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Mafia are eliminated (Krampus), and Mafia controls the Majority of the population.

Jack Frost - MS (Roleblocker/Blackmailer)

You are aligned with Mafia.
You may talk with your Mafia Partners in the PT here.
You long for fame and glory. But alas, Frosty the Snowman was always favored over you. You hate the Christmas joy that everyone feels, because you yourself never felt it. As the twisted fate tells it, you spend your nights using your subzero abilities in order to reign terror on the town. You hate the reign of Santa Claus, and you want to see his downfall, and the downfall of Christmas for this cursed town.
Action: You may blitz a player each night. They will either be roleblocked or blackmailed.
Upgrade: You will be able to choose the effect of your target (Roleblocking or Blackmailing).
Win Condition: When all threats to the Mafia are eliminated (Krampus), and Mafia controls the Majority of the population.

Grinch - MD (Framer)

You are aligned with Mafia.
You may talk with your Mafia Partners in the PT here.
You've never been one to have a heart. The Town has tried to change your ways, but in the end, you kept to your twisted nature of a passionate hatred towards Christmas. Although, you don't hold the same ideals as the Scrooge in spreading the mischeer. Instead, you ruin the lives of others by giving the impression of their mischeer and naughtiness.
Action: You may frame a player as Naughty.
Upgrade: You will be allowed to frame two players each night.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Mafia are eliminated (Krampus), and Mafia controls the Majority of the population.

Gremlin - MD (Janitor)

You are aligned with Mafia.
You may talk with your Mafia Partners in the PT here.
Despite your cute appearance, you hold a dark secret. You have a mission to destroy Christmas, and all that it stands for. You spend your nights tending to the kills of your fellow partners, hiding the truth they hold from the rest of the town.
Action: You may clean up the role of a player. You may do this twice.
Upgrade: You will be allowed to clean up a role a third time.
Win Condition: When all threats to the Mafia are eliminated (Krampus), and Mafia controls the Majority of the population.

Neutral

Krampus - NK (Serial Killer)

You are aligned with Yourself.
You are the counterpart to Santa Claus. Instead of rewarding children for good behavior, you punish children for bad behavior. There's just one problem: You forgot which children in this town are Naughty. With the arrival of Santa Claus, you've decided to take it upon yourself to punish the evildoers of this Town, and no one is good enough for your list.
You cannot kill the Innocent Child.
Action: You may kill a player each night.
Upgrade: You will rampage at your target's home.
Win Condition: When all evildoers of the town are eliminated. (Last Player standing, save for Innocent Child).

Lunatic - NE (Jester)

You are aligned with Yourself.
You're the loon of the town. You have no care for the magic that is Christmas. Instead, you've taken a haunting interest in the gloom, depressing nature of the dead. You, with the crazy nature you follow, want the town to believe you are naughty, in order to fulfill your disturbing interest in the dead. Once achieved, you take your revenge on those who voted for your demise, only to feed your lunacy.
Action: You have no night action. If you are lynched, you may take your revenge on one of those who voted for you.
Upgrade: You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When you are lynched.

Rogue Elf - NC (Vampire Leader)

You are aligned with Yourself.
You want to run this town, you and your fellow Elflings. Santa still believes your innocent, but in secret, you've been plotting his downfall in order to take on the role of Santa Claus yourself. Each night, you recruit people into your band of Misfits and Outcasts. Your goal is to take down the Reign of Santa Claus, and control the majority of the Town in order to take Christmas for yourself.
Action: You may convert a player to the Rogue Faction each night.
Upgrade: Any player you convert will now be unable to convert back into their original role.
Win Condition: When the Rogue Faction controls the majority of the Population.

Elfling - NC (Vampire) (Sub-role)

You are aligned with Yourself.
You were recruited by the Rogue Elf to take this town for yourselves. You're here only to spread the joyous wonders of the newcoming of Santa Claus. Despite your campaigns, you yourself don't know the Rogue Elf, you only blindly follow their will to the end.
You will convert back to your original role upon the death of the Rogue Elf. This bypasses the upgrade of the Rogue Elf.
Action: You may convert a player to the Rogue Faction each night.
Upgrade: You cannot receive a gift from Santa Claus.
Win Condition: When the Rogue Faction controls the majority of the Population.

The setup will be:

Santa Claus
Mrs. Claus
2 Town Random
5 Carolers
Mafia Random
2 Sticklers
Neutral Random

There is one mechanic to the game I added specifically for another game. The idea is that this is all happening before Christmas, so there are 12 cycles (Night and Day) that the town can get rid of the Mafia. If the Mafia is not rid of by Christmas, the Mafia wins. (So by Day 7, if any Mafia remain, Mafia auto-wins). It's mainly to keep the pace going, rather than being sitting ducks. So if it's something you guys want then I'll implement it, otherwise it's standard in that sense.

Edit: The "Exclusions" for Caroler/Innocent Child singing is specifically if the Carolers/Innocent Child sing at a Caroler's house, they'll be granted a role for the night after the singing, and the role will be removed thereafter. Caroling cannot be used to give an extra shot to roles that are limited-shot. (Ex. Rudolph)

Mostly. I said in the beginning it was mostly a copy of other setups. And no, there cannot be 2 cult factions. I forgot to put it in the setup, since normally Converter is one-shot, but the Mafia Converter is Oneshot. And the "Cult" can only exist if the Rogue Elf is in the game. If the Rogue Elf is not in the game, then Blixen and the Elflings cannot exist in the game.

Alright, makes sense. And the "Rampage" thing is that they'll attack the visitors of their target as well. So if they target Player X, and Player X is visited by Player Y and Player Z, all three players will die etc. etc.

Regardless of the rampage though, Krampus can never kill the Innocent Child.

I added the win conditions. I'm not doing mine to have specific wincons to each role, since that was Onjit's thing, and it just makes things more confusing. It's more of just a Town and Mafia standard wincons with the Neutral wincons.

If SK can’t kill IC you need to state it in the roles/rules.
I think the most confusing part about this setup is the upgrade-carole system. As well as the santa claus gifting roles. And then the time limit too. Seems a bit overly complex to my taste.

The time limit is optional. I made it specifically for the Mafia I host elsewhere, where people are less active. The idea was to get people to be more active with a time limit.

The Upgrade and Carol system is the main point of the setup. I said before when I was talking about this setup that the idea was about "The Giving aspect of Christmas." The Caroling bit is mainly to make being a Townie a little less boring, and for them to be a little more important than for votes. If it's too complicated, they can simply just be Vanilla Townies.

Santa Claus Gifting is what the upgrade system is for. The upgrade is just how the gifts that Santa Claus gives affects each individual role. The Caroler's act as more of a second defense in the line of gifting and whatnot.

I did state in the IC's role that Krampus cannot kill the IC, but I forgot to note it on Krampus' role so I'll do that now.

i have a couple ideas for board game/mafia hybrids like i listed out in peaces thread (some were obvious jokes, but still)

That’s not gonna happen. Inactive people won’t be incentivized by a time limit, in fact it will probably just annoy the people that actually are active.
