Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Warning for racism

The list of warnings has no independent warning for racism. I know EE T&Cs have one and the T&Cs apply to this forum, but as someone's gone to the trouble of creating that fairly specific list, racism should be on it. I mean, the word "racism" isn't even in there at all.

Is it "Inappropriate"? NubNuggetry? Flaming?

If it's said as a joke, is it treated differently? I need closure on this.

Re: Warning for racism

Ya know I actually agree that this should be a thing explicitly, even for jokes if they're truly atrocious, but this forum is filled with people who disagree for whatever reason and you and I are probably going to get a lot of **** for this opinion.

also like should i make anotehr thread in mod discussion or should we just all talk about it here

Re: Warning for racism

I think most cases of racism would fall under "Inappropriate (Language)", "Troublemaking", or "Flaming". I think it might be better to explicitly include it under those (or maybe other) categories rather than necessarily add a separate category for it. For example, respectively, adding "racist language", "general racism", and "targeted racism" under those categories might be one way of making it work.

Re: Warning for racism

@rat the problem with "flaming" is if it's a general statement it's not really against a user. but the problem with a warning for racism is that it would be hard to give it a single point value because it varies so much. like i'd like to make it a "general bigotry" warning to cover other forms of hate speech, but that's so varied that it almost seems like too much trouble. maybe it should just be something that's included in the rules but applies to existing warnings without getting too caught up in semantics, idk

I mean I did specifically say that general racism could fall under troublemaking

Re: Warning for racism

don't like where this is heading if we try to restrict the extremely and retardedly vague "hate speech" category. as long as you aren't attacking other users IMO saying the jews should have all been exterminated is "fine".

Re: Warning for racism

This probably sounds awful but, since it already happened, it is now just an opinion of whether you think they should have died or not. We can't go back in time and change it so everything is opinionated nowadays.

Re: Warning for racism

How about a general "discrimination" warning? Racism isnt the only form of discrimination that exists. Although, this may make it harder for more controversial opinions (such as Insanity's gender topic) to be allowed on the forum.

Re: Warning for racism

Again no. We're enough of a hugbox as is censoring non-swears because it triggers the SJW mods. Adding some vague "discrimination" warning would only put us on a road to warning people for saying "I'm not a fan of _____" because that's obv hate speech against everyone who ___ and anyone who has a problem with the warning is triggering me and should be banned for microaggressions.

If "racism" is added as a warning, then we may as well go ahead and make a "discrimination" warning. Also while I would agree with your point its bit of an exaggeration to go through the whole "trigger microaggresions" thing considering that I don't think that's what anybody wanted.

@Diff

If someone reports a post with racism in it, what happens? If there's a standard response with a warning, make it clear by putting the word "racism" in that warning.

Re: Warning for racism

The problem is, there are a group of people in the world that would consider almost ANYTHING one of 3 things:

Racist, Offensive, or Discriminatory.

Soon, you turn this forum into a place where free speech isn't allowed and you have put 'safe spaces' to such an extent where those who even joke something slightly discriminatory will get hammered quickly.

Don't be ridiculous. Free speech is allowed, but offensive racism isn't. If just one person gets offended and reports it, are they wrong? Should there be a standard that outlines how offended people should get?

A racist joke that nobody reports because it's amusing is clearly allowed.

Literally nothing happens. There is no standardized response to racism because there is no rule against it on the forums. If someone signs off all their posts with "White power" I do nothing. Unless of course he breaks an actual rule by putting "Die, **** scum" right before that.

Why should racism be the only form of discrimination that's not allowed? Creating a "racism" warning will only cover a tiny rather small portion of discrimination. Either we should allow all forms of discrimination, or no forms of discrimination. Anything in between will only make things more confusing.

Kinda off topic but this warning and the description mean absolutely nothing to me because they use made up words, I'd like if that was made more clear.

I think that racism should not get you a warning unless it is directed at specific users. Saying "white people are the best" is just like saying "pumpkin pie is the best." People might get mad at you for opinion but then you can discuss why pumpkin pie is not the best in the topic, no need for any warnings just because people don't like your opinions/beliefs. However saying "Username is a **** and should die" obviously isn't ok and should get you a warning. I don't have a pie metaphor for the second one.

Comparing entire groups of human beings is a lot more harmful than comparing flavors of a pie.

Feel free to suggest a better word for it. It's a bit of a catch-all warning. To earn it, you have to disrupt the forums without breaking the rules. Repeatedly. Even after being asked to stop.

Hi I just wanted to bring this up:

Forum rules:

If something violates the Everybody Edits Terms of Service, it also violates forum rules.

EE ToS:

...do not create/send content that... discriminates other people based on their religion, race, sex, political beliefs, age, sexuality, or anything else.
