Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

Here's an idea, I don't think it's the best because if we got to an insane amount of block placks in EE it wouldn't really work, but what about expandable block packs? Or what about clicking on a block to change the color/type you want (for example, in the basic pack, you could click on the grey block and then it would change to blue, red, green, etc

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

The thing with a lot of these ideas is that they involve making things compact by categorising things or tucking them away. But I much prefer to see all the blocks at once, which is why I like spinastar's idea, even though it doesn't make it that much smaller. But like I said, I'm mostly fine with the way it is.

The problem is obviously that the block bar is too big and obstructs your view of the game. However, the only time I have the block bar open for a long time is when I'm placing things with IDs or some sort of input (such as portals, switches, music blocks, etc). So if you could do all of that stuff from the hotbar, that would be perfect for me.

This is true, but keep in mind the amount of blocks will keep expanding so some futureproofing would also help.

Liking the feedback/suggestions/designs so far guys, keep it coming.

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

Well my point was that I wouldn't care if the block bar even filled the whole screen, because I barely have it open (or I would if I could input IDs and stuff from the hotbar).

Most of these ideas don't really suit me so I can't say much, but please consider Tomkazaz' fullscreen idea that he posted a while ago, because if something is added to make the block bar smaller I think that would be my favourite.

This needs to be added.

Not at all. This doesn't solve the initial issue presented in the OP. This lock bar is actually separate from all this.

No it's just temporary addition. We still need to find best solution and implement it.

It actually used to be in the game some time ago, then it was removed, and now it's back again.

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

i really like three. it looks ee and you can chose which menu you want with out scrolling one to the next. meaning you would not have to go through page 2 to get to 3 if there was a page three 3. maybe make it so the tabs only appear when you hover over it.

Number two seems alright but a bit ugly if i do say so. its themed with the tabs but its boring

Number one seems the most practical but clicking an arrow to go between one long row of items just seems boring and i know i wouldn't want to click through page after page to fine something. its a simple design and i like that more that number two's larger more themed design.

Number fore takes up to much space and it just does not look good the way it is not connected.

The u shape is down right hideous, and you have to turn your head to look at it.

Maybe if all else fails make it a setting in the lobby how a player wants it. if that does not take up to much resources.

I don't think fully black should be secret, there's nothing secret about it. It's just transparent on the minimap.

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

The blockbars with pages are kinda bad idea, would require you a lot of clicks to find some block that you need but I like the first design (arrows on the sides).
IMO the best way to make it simple would be turning current block bar into a "full palette" menu (which would be a separate window?) and putting in it's place a new block bar with up to 10 (or more) setups/tabs (named 1 2 3 and so on, thus the tab buttons will take tiny amount of space) that the players will make themselves from the items (as in bricks + action things + decorations + backgrounds) they have and it saves forever (and can be edited anytime).

EDIT: Another idea that came to my mind when I saw goshanoob's post, this one is for the blocks only: Making a "quick block maker" for the simple colors blocks. You select block texture (basic, bricks, glass, mineral, beta, checkers, plastic, magic etc.) and color and it finds the block you need. Of course it won't work with unique looking blocks, such as environment or medieval packs.

I understand that, but there is an anti block of it. To me, it's very much like a door and gate in block form.

Exactly what I imagined. This suggestion
+ the ability to drag and swap a package by clicking on a package name, drag it over another pack and let go of the click.
If the package is on the next page, drag that package over one of the arrows on the side to get to the next page. Want to get to the page after that? Then keep holding the pack with your mouse over the arrow and after a 1 sec delay it will again go to the next page.

Btw, I wonder what you meant with that loading symbol. I don't think it will load at all.

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

I want to be able to select the blocks that I need, for instance I rarely need every single block - I want to be able to select for instance

• Basic
• Beta
• Stone
• Prison
• Pirate
• Marble
• Gravity
• Effect
• Sign
• Clay

The block box will be as small as it has to be to fit in only those block packs

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

After reading the thread and collecting feedback I think I've come up with the ideal compromise:

http://i.imgur.com/tWs6aZD.png (too large to fit here so click it).

The designs aren't final, I'm just looking for more feedback.

- You get to choose your own style: Classic, Compact, or Ultra Compact.

- Each style gets the additional features.

- One-ways will be moved to the Action tab.

Initially I liked the sidebar design, but considering its lack of futureproofing, I decided against it.

Two questions:

1: What do you guys think if the proposed designs/features?
2: For the custom tab (not yet in preview), how should you get blocks to the custom tab, making it as user-friendly as possible?

Re: Feedback and brainstorming: The Block Bar

Classic or compact.

What I don't want is only being able to see a single block of a whole pack and having to hover over that block to see the rest.
