Guide to Everybody Edits

Hello! Welcome to the un-official guide to Everybody Edits! This guide is intended for new players, but even if you are an old player feel free to read it! (The information is pretty obvious if you have been playing this game for a while, which is why I said it is intended for new players)

This post is still under construction.

▼The Basics

LOBBY:
This is the lobby where you have access to:
- Campaigns
- The shop
- Settings
- Worlds
- Friends
- Crews
- Inbox
- News
- Energy
- Gems

CAMPAIGNS:
When you click on the campaign tab, you are brought to a screen where you can select a campaign to do. A campaign is a set of worlds with multiple tiers, and upon completing them, you get a prize. It can be an addition to your max energy, a energy refill, a block, gems, a world, or a badge which you can show on your profile.

When you click on a campaign, you will notice only the first world is unlocked. This is because you can only go to the next tier/world if you complete the one before it.

Campaigns will be added frequently to to the game, so there will always be more worlds for you to play.

THE SHOP:
The shop is a place where you can buy items that will benefit you in the game. Items are bought with energy, gems, or real money.
When you first start the game, you have a maximum of 200 energy. Energy is rewarded to you ever 2 and a half minutes (150 seconds) until you reach your maximum amount of energy.
Gems can be bought with real money, and can be used to buy anything in the shop to quicken your purchase if you do not want to wait for energy. Items in the ‘Classics’ tab is only available to be bought by gems. Items in the ‘Services’ tab also can only be bought with gems or money.
The shop is categorized into 8 sections/tabs:
1. Featured
2. Smileys
3. Blocks
4. Worlds
5. Auras
6. Classics
7. Crew
8. Services

The ‘Featured’ tab is where items a featured.
The ‘Smileys’ tab is where smileys can be bought. Smileys can be worn throughout the game and can be changed at any time.
The ‘Blocks’ tab is where block packages can be bought. Block packages normally come with multiple blocks. Blocks can be placed in your world to build levels. (Blocks can be ‘Owner only’ where only the owner can place them, and they can also limited where you have to buy more of them to place more of them.)
The ‘Worlds’ tab is where you can buy worlds to edit in. Worlds come in various sizes.
The ‘Auras’ tab is where you can buy colored auras that will make you stand out when in ‘God Mode’.
The ‘Classics’ tab is where you can buy exclusive/seasonal items. These can only be bought with gems.
The ‘Crew’ tab is where you can buy a crew, and manage it.
The ‘Services’ tab is where you can buy miscellaneous things that enhance gameplay.

SETTINGS:
Settings is a place where you can change your settings to make gameplay better. You can manage the game, chat, and other things there such as your smiley, badge, and aura.

WORLDS:
Worlds are what make Everybodyedits, Everybodyedits. Worlds are all user-created and players are represented as smileys that can jump on blocks and can be effected by gravity and other blocks.
You can search a world name in the search bar,

You can join a world by its ID,

You can see your favorites list.

You can see what the world’s minimap look like without joining it,

There are also filters where you can filter the worlds that are currently open.
(Featured, Likes, Online, Plays, Open, Mine, Beta)

FRIENDS:

The friends tab is where you have access to all of the friends you have in Everybodyedits. You can accept friend requests, block people, and see your pending friend requests. Friends are added via their username, and not by their email.
If your friend is online, they will go to the top of the list and it will say ‘Online’ and the world they are in. If they are in the lobby, it will just say ‘Online’.

CREWS:

A crew is a group of people that build worlds together. The ‘Crews’ system allows players to edit each other’s worlds and to have a crew profile. You can either buy a crew (maximum of 3) in the energy shop, or someone can invite you. If you are in multiple crews (maximum of 10), you can press ‘Switch Crew’ to see another crew.

How to use it:
If you are the owner of the crew, you can invite people by username, see pending users, see current members, see the crew’s worlds, edit ranks, and create alerts. You will also automatically be ranked ‘Owner’.
To remove a person from the crew, press on their username and press ‘Remove’

INBOX:
The inbox is a messing system where you can send a player (on your friend list) a message. This is useful for if you want to send your friend a message and they are offline.
NEWS:
The ‘News’ tab is where you will be notified about future updates. You will also receive alerts from crews that you have subscribed to.

If you are invited to a crew, the notification will be sent here.

ENERGY:
When you first start the game, you have a maximum of 200 energy. Energy is rewarded to you ever 2 and a half minutes (150 seconds) until you reach your maximum amount of energy.

GEMS:
Gems can be bought here with real money. If you have a gem code, they can be submitted here.

▼Editing a world

When you are building a world, most users look out for the art, and the minigames. To help enhance your art, different block packages can be bought in the Energy Shop. To help enhance your minigames, various blocks that effect your gravity, speed, and more can also be bought in the shop.

▼Blocks and their effects

Some blocks can be bought in the shop, and can effect your gameplay. These blocks can be found in the 'Action' tab in your inventory.

Gravity: Gravity arrows boost you in the direction they are pointing.
Keys: Upon touching a key, a key door will open (with the corresponding color) and a key gate will close. This only lasts for a certain amount of time.
Coins: Coins are collectibles that effect coin doors and gates. If you collect a certain amount of gold coins, a gold coin door will open and a gold coin gate will close. Some coins may contain 'Magic' and can give you a magic block, smiley, or an addition to your max energy. Magic coins are completely random and are not up to the owner to place them.
Tools:
- The crown will give you a crown until another person gets it.
- The spawn point will spawn a player to it at the beginning of a level or if they die without touching a checkpoint. If multiple checkpoints are placed, the player will be spawned in any one of them.
- The checkpoint acts as a spawn if you touch it. If you die by a hazard (such as a spike) you will be teleported to it.
- The trophy will give you a crown if you touch it. In most worlds, if you touch if that means you have won the world. A shout-out will appear to all users when you touch it, saying, "* WORLD: [USERNAME] completed this world!".

Boost: Boosts will shoot you in the direction it is pointing in. It is like an arrow, but much stronger.
Climbable: Climbable blocks are block that you can climb by pressing 'up'.
Switches: If you touch a switch, the corresponding switch door will open and the corresponding switch gate will close. Switches are not global.
Death gate and doors: If you die from a hazard a certain amount of time, a death door will open and a death gate will close.
Zombie: If you are a zombie, a zombie door will open and a zombie gate will close.
Teams: If you touch a team, the corresponding team door will open and the corresponding team gate will close. The team you are currently on will be displayed next to your username in the user list. If you touch a team after touching one previously, you will change to that team.
Timed doors and gates: Timed doors and gates will open and close in around 5 second intervals.
Music: Music notes will play a sound if you touch them. The current instruments are piano (2 octaves) and drums.
Hazards: If you touch a hazard, you will die and respawn to the checkpoint you touched last. If you did not touch a checkpoint, you will go back to spawn.
Liquids:
- Water will change your gravity and you will float.
- Lava will kill you after a certain amount of time after touching it.
- Mud will change your gravity and will make your sink.
Portals:
- Invisible portals are like regular portals, but are invisible when not in god mode.
- Portals will teleport you to another portal with the ID you set it it to.
- World portals will teleport you to another world if you press the character 'y' on it.
Cake: A cake will give you a temporary smiley with a party hat. There are currently 4 cake smileys.
Hologram: The hologram will temporarily turn you into a hologram smiley with a little transparency.
Sign: If you touch a sign, a little box will appear telling you what the sign says.
Effects:
- The jump boost will increase your jumping height.
- The flying effect will let you fly if you press space. (Different from god mode)
- The speed effect will increase your speed.
- The protection effect will make you immune to hazards and lava.
- The curse effect will give you a curse for a set duration. If you touch another player who is not cursed, they will be cursed and you will be healed.
Diamond: Upon touching a diamond block, you will be turned into a shiny silver smiley.

▼How to use portals

First set the ID if the portal you want to use, and the ID of the portal you want to be teleported to.

In this case, the portal ID is 1 and the target portal ID is 2.
After that, make a portal with the ID your previous portal is leading to. In this case, it is 2.

▼Miscellaneous Information

MAGIC: Magic is awarded to you through coins. Only some coins contain them, and they are chosen at random. If you get a magic coin, you will get an addition to your max energy, a magic smiley, or a magic block.
The current magic smileys are:
- Grinch (seasonal smiley from christmas 2011)
- Wizard
- Fire Wizard
- Witch
- Dark Wizard
- Ghost (similar to a pacman ghost)

▼Terminology

Code: If entered correctly, you can obtain edit. (Code can only be set by the owner)
Crew: A group of players who build worlds together.
Edit: The ability to edit a world.
Energy: Everybody Edits currency.
God mode: In god mode, a player can move around freely even if there are blocks.
Minigame: A small level with a goal. Levels normally have a few of these.
Minimap: The layout of the level where each block is represented by 1 pixel.
Troll: A person who intentionally messes up someone's level by spamming blocks.
World(s): A level in which players build in.

also, i'm glad someone's making a detailed guide. finally. after five years.

Hook Jump - a basic unit is made of a four block wall with a block a block coming out of the lower and top block forming a [ or ] shape. these can be as tall as you want

I like the topic. It's really informative and I think new players will find this tutorial very helpful.
Although, i'd make a few changes:
• Adding: Name-tabbing and/or command-tabbing (BR <tab> = BR0K3N: )
• Removing: The Purple Ghost wizard from the line of magic smileys (possibly saying it was obtainable earlier) and adding light wizard (temp. if the smiley is seasonal or similar)
• Adding: Shortcuts like SHIFT+U (hides usernames), SHIFT+I (hides chat bubbles) and I (toggle /inspect)
• Adding: Lava shows an indicator
